About the COE Alumni Association (COEAA)

The COEAA is one of the largest constituent groups of the University of Hawaii Alumni Association (UHAA) having a potential membership of 22,000 educators worldwide.

At a September 12 meeting in 1989, a formal request was made to the UHAA for the establishment of the College of Education Alumni Association. Araki, '57, Doris Ching, '63, Ko Miyataki, '64, Wendie Liu, '67, Helen Sanpei, '70, Shirley Yamashita, '70 and Alan Kohan, '79.

In the fall of 1990, the first officers of the newly formed COEAA were elected. They included: Claudio Suyat, president; Andrew W S In, vice president; Emiko Sugino, secretary-treasurer; Lynette Ko Miyataki, director and UHAA representative, and Charles Araki, Charles Goo, Justin Mew, Betsy Sakata and Helen Sanpei, directors.
