College of Education: Research

Tenure and Promotion

Tenure and Promotion committees exist in each academic department within the College. A tenure-track faculty member or APT may go up for tenure and promotion at a regularly scheduled time, or they may go up early if they feel they already possess sufficient credentials (as in cases of faculty who transfer here from other institutions). Executive faculty in the Dean’s office may go up for tenure at any time approved by the Dean and Chancellor. In some cases, one may go up for tenure without promotion (if they are already at the highest rank, for example). A similar set of expectations is given for APTs as for faculty. Research is a critical part of the tenure and promotion dossier.

A sample dossier is provided here. It is all electronic, although the system required that it be printed on paper with original signatures. Other dossiers will be added by those willing to share them as samples for those who are preparing their dossiers.
