Programs of Interest to International Students
1. Academic Programs Related to the Department of Educational Foundations
The Department of Educational Foundations focuses on five core areas that are of interest to international students: Comparative/International Education, Educational Policy Studies, History of Education, Philosophy of Education, and Social/Cultural Studies in Education. It offers two Ph.D. specializations in Educational Foundations and Educational Policy Studies (the latter in cooperation with the Department of Educational Administration) and several Masters Programs. These are designed both for international students who may return to their home countries as teachers, scholars, policy analysts, or administrators in universities, schools, ministries, development agencies, or NGO’s, or American students who may be interested in such professional positions in the U.S.A. or abroad.
Beyond the Ph.D. specializations in Educational Foundations and in Educational Policy Studies, the Department of Educational Foundations offers a traditional, academic year masters program and two special summers-oriented masters focusing on educational leadership: Educational Leadership in the Asia/Pacific Region and Private School Leadership in the Pacific Basin. 2. Academic Programs Related to the Department of Educational Administration
The Department of Educational Administration focuses on two primary areas that are of interest to international students: P – 12 Educational Administration and Higher Education Administration. It offers a Ph.D. specialization in Educational Administration and, in cooperation with the Department of Educational Foundations, it offers a Ph.D. specialization in Educational Policy Studies. Depending on a student’s focus, graduates go on to careers in school administration, higher education administration, policy-oriented positions, and the scholarly study of educational administration and higher education. 3. Academic Programs Related to the Department of Curriculum Studies
The Department of Curriculum Studies, in cooperation with the Institute of Teacher Education, offers the Ph.D. specialization in Curriculum and Instruction. It also offers a masters degree in Curriculum Studies and a summers-oriented masters in Early Childhood Education. International students interested in careers as curriculum and instruction leaders, teacher educators, and educational leaders in P – 12 education and higher education may thrive in these programs. 4. Academic Programs Related to the Department of Educational Psychology
The Department of Educational Psychology offers the Ph.D. degree program in Educational Psychology, a traditional masters program, and a special masters program in Learning and Assessment. International students who desire to focus on educational psychology will find these programs of interest. 5. Academic Programs Related to the Department of Educational Technology
The Department of Educational Technology offers a masters degree program in Educational Technology. It also offers a concentration of studies in educational technology for Ph.D. students in other areas.
