2016-2017 Scholarship Application

The Pili Pono 2016-2017 scholarship application period is open November 6, 2015 through March 31, 2016.

You are eligible for our scholarship if you meet the following requirements:

  1. Be of Hawaiian ancestry.
  2. Be a classified undergraduate student at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa during the 2016-2017 academic school year.
  3. Demonstrate financial need based on the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) from the 2016-2017 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  4. Possess a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or better (on a 4.00 scale) at the time of application.

The 2016-2017 Pili Pono Scholarship Application deadline has passed and is now closed.

Application Requirements:

Don’t forget to start early! These are the items you will need to include with your application.

  • Pili Pono Scholarship Application.
  • Proof of Hawaiian ancestry (Please only submit one hard copy of any of the following: Applicant’s Birth Certificate, Department of Hawaiian Home Land lessee (DHHL), Hawaiian Registry at OHA, Operation ʻOhana at OHA, or Kamehameha Schools Hoʻoulu Hawaiian Data Center Verification Letter).
  • Personal Essay- Write up to 2 pages (max) addressing the following topic: If awarded the Pili Pono scholarship, how do you plan to give back to the Hawaiian community while you are in school and after graduation?
  • Current Resume (Please make sure it is critiqued and updated. Mānoa Career Center in QLC 212 provides critiquing services).
  • Copy of completed 2016-2017 Student Aid Report (SAR) from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
  • Two letters of recommendation obtained from academic instructors.
  • Official high school and/or college transcripts from ALL institutions attended (Photocopied transcripts or grades printed from the university website will NOT be accepted).
