Students at community service project at Hale Mauliola on Sand Island.

Community Service

Students who are awarded the Pili Pono Scholarship are required to complete 50 hours of community service during the 2016-2017 academic school year.

We believe that giving back to our communities help build leadership skills and strengthen Native Hawaiian identity.

Guidelines for choosing a community service opportunity:

  • Benefit a Native Hawaiian community or organization
  • Be unpaid
  • Not be self-organized
  • Supervisor cannot be a family relative
