ACCOMMODATIONS The East-West Center
(EWC) has various housing options for those wanting to stay close to
the Imin Conference Center. See their Website under Visitor
Housing.
When requesting a room, please identify yourself as a participant
in the "Micronesian Voices in Hawai‘i" conference.
The East-West Center (including the Imin Conference Center) is directly
across the street from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. The
rooms at EWC are not air-conditioned.
If the EWC housing is full, there are also hotels in the Waikiki and
Ala Moana sections of Honolulu, with bus connections to the university
(map; the Imin Conference Center is located in Jefferson Hall) and the
East-West Center. The standard bus fare is $2 per trip, with one transfer
included free of charge (Click here for more information).
PARKING AT THE EAST-WEST CENTER Parking directly adjacent to the Imin
Conference Center can be reserved before 25 March through the registration
form for $4 a day. Permits will be mailed to registrants. Participants
who do not reserve parking ahead of time can purchase regular University
of Hawai‘i visitor parking lot entry for $3 a day at the entry gates.
DINING There are various dining
options on the University of Hawai‘i
campus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are also small restaurants
and coffee shops within walking distance of the UH Campus and the East-West
Center.
TRANSPORTATION FROM THE AIRPORT The Honolulu International Airport is
approximately 10 miles from the East-West Center. Taxi fare between the
airport and the UHM campus/EWC is approximately $30.
WEATHER IN HONOLULU The temperature in Honolulu normally ranges from
an average daytime high of 77 degrees F to an average nighttime low of
63 degrees F. The days are normally sunny, but an umbrella is advised.
A light jacket or sweater is advised for cooler days and the cool temperatures
in the conference room.
