Wūjooj-in-Ep (Oplismenus compositus - Poaceae)

Description: This grass species is a frail, much-branched, creeping perennial grass, with thin, hairy leaf blades approximately 5-10 cm (2-4 in) long and 1.5 cm (.5 in) wide.

Distribution: The English name of this plant species is "basket grass." Its Marshallese name indicates that it came from Ep (Yap), a ledgendary island. This native of tropical America is an alien species in the Marshall Islands introduced by people. It is presently found growing on Mājro, Arņo, Jālooj, and Epoon.

Uses: Wūjooj-in-Ep has medicinal uses.
