I worked as a secondary social studies classroom teacher and a state resource teacher (OCISS-Curriculum and Instruction Branch) for 35 years. Since retiring in 2009, my priorities include spending time with family, especially my first grandchild, and traveling. However, I continue to work on education-related projects with community partners such as Kamehameha Schools-Kauhale Kipaipai, Bishop Museum, and the Center for Pacific Island Studies.

I am excited to be part of the Pacific Places project having worked previously on other curriculum projects, such as Ohina Waiwai. I have taught 7th and 8th grade social studies at Ilima Intermediate out in Ewa Beach for nine years and worked as a PPT in Hawaiian Immersion at Waiau elementary before that. E ola mau ka ʻolelo Hawaiʻi! I am trained in AVID, IB, and Thinking Maps, and have been the National Geographic Bee coordinator at my school for the last four years. As advisor to the Ilima Civic Club I take groups of students to Washington, DC for spring break where we study civics for real in our nation's capital. In 2009 I was honored to receive the C.W. Stevens Middle Level Educators Award. I work with amazing and under-appreciated teachers day in and day out.
