Karl "Veto" Baker began his study of hula with Robert Cazimero as a member
of Kamehameha Schools Concert Glee Club in 1974 and was an original member of Hālau Nā Kamalei from 1975. He was a member of the Brothers Cazimero Royal Dance Company for many years at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. After twenty years of study with Hālau Nā Kamalei, Veto graduated as Kumu Hula (Hula Master) with the Papa 'A'ali'i Class in August of 1995. His twenty years of study with his Kumu have laid a solid foundation for his hula school, Hālau I Ka Wēkiu, established with Kumu Hula Michael Lanakila Casupang in March 1998.
