Iosefa Enari

Iosefa Enari is a choreographer, director/producer, performer, teacher, and filmmaker. He is currently completing his MCPA studies in dance at the University of Auckland. He has choreographed and taught dance in Sāmoa and Auckland and performed in Sāmoa, Australia, the United States, and Europe. For a number of years, Enari has been working with the Pacific Islands community in Auckland to develop performing arts programmes across all levels.from at-risk youth through to tertiary students, gifted performers, and adults. Currently he is head of Pacific Performing Arts at the National School of Performing Arts, Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. In 2004, he received a Creative New Zealand.Pacific Arts Committee grant to produce a short dance film, Gravity, which was presented at the Pacifika: New York Hawaiian Film Festival in 2005. The film has been described as "a beautifully crafted short film that interweaves gritty urban life and the dreamscape of a traditional Polynesian ceremony and spiritual awakening."
