Julia Gray is director of Sunameke Pacific Island Performance, based in Darwin, NT, Australia.
She is of Papua New Guinean/Australian heritage and has been exposed to the impact of two separate and distinctive cultures. Since graduating from Adelaide University, she has spent her professional life as a freelance dancer and choreographer, finding varied ways to express herheritage.
This year Julia has worked with Tracks Dance Theatre Performance as cultural dance coordinator, choreographer, and dancer, participating with international and community cultural dance groups in Darwin's Arafura Games opening ceremony. She has also toured through the United States and rural Western Australia with Drum Drum. As director of Sunameke Pacific Island Performance, Julia is currently preparing and developing her latest project, "fai'a," for the Darwin Fringe Festival.
