Award-winning poet, author, and former librarian Robert Sullivan is a UHM
assistant professor of English. He belongs to the Māori tribes Nga
Puhi, Kai Tahu and Ngati Raukawa. He was previously the Library Manager of
Māori Services at the University of Auckland Library /Te Tumu Herenga
which was the first Maori library information service at a university in
New Zealand. In 1995 he created the subject-based collection of Māori
web resources, Nga Matatiki Rorohiko, which subsequently became the
Māori subject component of the National Library of New Zealand's Te
Puna web directory. He was a foundation member of the Māori
librarians' network Te Ropu Whakahau and was on the steering committee of
the first International Indigenous Librarians' Forum held at the
University of Auckland in 1999.
