The
Center for Pacific Islands Studies has developed an extensive educational
outreach program designed to promote greater awareness and understanding
of the Pacific region in the wider community. Seminars, workshops for
K–12 teachers, film showings, and other public events, often involving
other departments and centers on and off campus, seek to involve the
university and the broader community in discussions on a wide range of
topics. Prominent among the center’s outreach activities are its
Visiting Artist program,
its Fulbright–Creative New
Zealand Pacific Writers’ Residency program, its international
conferences,
its collaborative projects, and its occasional
seminar series.
