Dr. Gretchen Gavero

Dr. Gretchen Gavero, D.O., recently joined UH as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the John A. Burns School of Medicine. She completed her medical training at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in California and her psychiatric residency training at UCSF-Fresno. As a general psychiatrist on the faculty, she cares for patients and teaches students and residents on the adult inpatient and outpatient services at the Queens Medical Center. Her research interests include Filipino Mental Health and minority education.

Dr. Gavero and others in the Department, including Interim Chair, Dr. Anthony "Tony" Guerrero, M.D. (also a Filipino faculty member) are (re-)forming a Filipino mental health research interest group and looking forward to potential collaborations with other colleagues in the University system.
