Philippine Studies International Conference 2019

CALL FOR PAPERS –

Philippine Studies International Conference 2019:
Emerging Voices in Filipino and Philippine Studies
November 6, 2019, Honolulu, Hawai’i

The Center for Philippine Studies is inviting scholars to submit papers for the forthcoming international conference on November 6, 2019 in Honolulu, Hawai’i.

Topics may include the following: continuing Filipino diaspora and rising remittances, transmigration/immigration issues, political and economic issues in the Philippines, conflict and peace, globalization and its effects, among many identified topics. This conference would bring together a generation of scholars to do these tasks: (a) evaluate the structural conditions that maintain a separation and distance between Philippine Studies and Filipino/a Studies scholarship, (b) present new research and investigation in related fields of the social sciences and humanities, and (c) diagram the present and future intersections of contemporary scholarship in both fields towards the elaboration of a “transpacific” model of Pacific Rim studies.
