SOCIAL STUDIES
The Social Studies Section of CRDG features three excellent history texts: A History of Hawai`i, China: Understanding Its Past, and The Rise of Modern Japan.
These innovative materials
- are written especially for high school students.
- are activity-centered to foster critical thinking.
- utilize primary documents, cartoons, stories, poems, charts, timelines, etc., to stimulate student interest.
- are complemented by resources such as teachers' manuals, CDs, and professional development institutes (China and Japan).
Also available is Ethics in Thought and Action: Social and Professional Perspectives, in which students are able to review crucial ethical issues through case studies.
One-week professional development courses based on the China and Japan materials are offered during the summer.
