S. Shankar, Professor, Department of English, University of Hawai’i at Manoa. S. Shankar’s book of criticism Flesh and Fish Blood: Postcolonialism, Translation and the Vernacular is forthcoming from University of California Press. He is currently working on his third novel.
Congratulations to the winners of the inaugural Jagdish P. Sharma Memorial Scholarship—Ranjan Adiga in English, Richard Foster in History, and Cedar Louis in Geography. The scholarship was set up in the memory of historian Jagdish Sharma to support graduate students who specialize in South Asia.
