History

Projects 1994 - 2008:
Director,  Kathryn A. Davis

From 1994 to 2008 the CSLR received $2.2 million in grants from Federal, State, and private foundation funding agencies.  Sponsored projects drew on multiple language, literacy, educational, and social theories to develop educational programs, workshops, seminars, and conferences (state and international) to support indigenous, Local (Hawai`i born), and immigrant/migrant populations.  CSLR staff also theorized situated practices through interpretive qualitative research involving critical analysis of discourse, narratives, and participatory action research.  This dynamic process of interpretation, collaboration and model building has resulted in ongoing adaptations of CSLR projects both locally (in Hawai`i) and globally and contributed to language, literacy, and sociopolitical theory-building.  The following are the project titles and key publications.
