UH Cyber Security Week - October 23-27, 2006

Ever heard of spyware, phishing, spam, viruses, worms or identity theft? Think only hard core computer users have to worry about these things? Think again. The increased amount of computers and information stored in them affects all of our daily lives. Want to learn what you can do to avoid becoming a victim in our fast paced, technology driven world?

The University of Hawaii once again joins the growing list of public and private institutions participating in the National Cyber Security Awareness Month. Each October the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) spearheads efforts to increase the public's awareness of cyber security and crimes so that users can take precautions to avoid these Internet threats. NCSA is a consortium of government agencies and private industry sponsors that includes the Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Trade Commission and many private-sector corporations.

UH Information Technology Services (ITS) will be hosting UH Cyber Security Week from October 23 - 27, 2006 to help educate the UH Community about importance of cybersecurity and adverse consequences of not being aware about cyberthreats. Events are being planned for the whole week to help educate the UH Community about the following cyber security challenges that face all of us:
