HCOP stands for Health Career Opportunities Program. It is a partnership of seventeen institutions of higher education, high schools, and community-based organization. HCOP is funded by the federal government to increase the number of Native Hawaiians, Filipinos, Southeaset Asians, Pacific Islanders from the U.S.-affilited Pacific Islands, and other individuals who meet the eligibility criteria in the health and allied health professions. It was designed to create an educational pipeline into health careers for individuals from economically, socially, and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds. The prupose of HCOP is to provide opportunities for students (high school and college) to gain increased awareness of health and allied health professions.
