Presidential Scholarships

The Board of Regents established the Presidential Scholarships to support students with a record of outstanding academic achievements. A total of ten scholarships will be awarded. Applicants must be juniors in the coming fall semester. Presidential Scholars receive a tuition waiver and a stipend of $2000 each semester, plus a one-time travel grant of $2000 that must be used before graduation. The scholarship is renewable for a total term of four consecutive semesters, providing that eligibility is maintained. Presidential Scholars may attend any baccalaureate campus of the University of Hawai'i.

ELIGIBILITY: Students meeting all of the following qualifications may apply.

  1. Classified full-time undergraduate student who will be a junior in the fall semester (i.e. has completed at least 55 and not more than 88 credits), seeking a degree in any course of study at any baccalaureate campus of the University of Hawai`i (i.e. Hilo, Mānoa, or West O`ahu)
  2. Grade point average of at least 3.7 for all college level work
  3. Evidence of superior academic achievement or creative endeavor
  4. Record of academic co-curricular and community service activities in college
  5. Bona fide resident of Hawai`i for tuition purposes, at the time of application

Students enrolled in degree programs offered through outreach are not eligible and the award does not cover tuition and fees for any Outreach College programs or courses.
