Course Description: In this class, the student will learn how to model a database using the Unified Modeling Language (UML) and optimize it for maximum efficiency. The student will then use the Standard Query Language (SQL) to create and manage it. The student will spend several weeks learning how to write queries to extract targeted information. Finally, the student will examine how to integrate Relational Databases, JSON, and NoSQL databases into web sites.
Textbooks: Database Systems: Design, Implementation, and Management, 10th Edition by Coronel/Morris/Rob
Technical Requirements: A computer with any operating system. Access to the internet and Laulima is required.
