Course Requirements:
The instructor will contact students by UH email before the first day of instruction.

Students are required to check their UH email for course correspondence before the first day of instruction.

This course will incorporate teamwork with other students in the class. The course will require several synchronous meetings throughout the semester. Scheduling of these meetings will be flexible to accommodate different schedules of team members.
Course Prerequisites:
Eng 100 and Math 100 or equivalent, all with a grade of C or better, or consent of instructor.

Recommended Prep: ICS 100
Course Description:
Hands-on computer class with emphasis on producing professional-level documents, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, and web content for problem solving. Includes concepts, terminology, and a contemporary operating system. Meets requirements for College of Business (UHM and UHH) and UHM’s Biology program and Botany Department.
Myitlab is required. It can be purchased via credit card at http://myitlab.com.
Microsoft Office 2010 Software and a headset/microphone are required.
Textbook - There is an optional textbook for this class

MyITLab runs on the PC Platform. Mac users can do most of the work in MyITLab, but will need to have an alternate technology plan for the MyITLab Grader projects which are done in the second half of the semester. See http://wps.prenhall.com/bp_myitlab2010_macuser/
Additional Notes:

Alternate Technology Access Plan: In registering for a Distance Education course (Cable or Web) the student is responsible for finding immediate alternate access to a computer with Internet connectivity or cable television should that student experience technical difficulties. Technical difficulties can include but are not limited to problems with a student's computer hardware/software; inoperability of a student's VCR or DVR; or lack of service by a student's Internet Service Provider (ISP) or Cable Provider. Technical issues do not constitute the extension of an assignment, project, quiz or exam deadline unless agreed upon by the instructor.

An Alternate Technology Access Plan will be made by the student prior to the start of the semester and should be implemented immediately upon encountering technical difficulties. The student is required to continue course work as a result of having an alternate plan of access while independently resolving any technical issues with hardware/software, VCR/DVD, ISP, or Cable Provider.
