Credit in or qualification for ENG 100 or ENG 160.
Intellectual Property prepares the student to assist a law firm or business in protecting the areas of copyright, trademark, and patent law. Due to the spread of internet and communication technologies, there is an increasing need for businesses to preserve their valuable intellectual property assets. The course will cover the methods by which each type of protection is created, the procedures to register or protect each, the duration of the rights, and how to protect the rights from infringement.
This class section (CRN 34410) is conducted on the Internet via Laulima and is not self-paced.

To be successful in this class, students should have basic computer skills to open, save, upload and download files; basic knowledge of email and attachments; and basic understanding of navigating the WWW.
