Course Prerequisites: Prerequisite(s):
A grade of "C" or higher in ENG 100, ENG 160, or ESL 100.

WI Prerequisite:
ENG 100, ENG 160, or ESL 100 with a grade of "C" or higher.
Course Description: ENG 209 is designed for students who intend to transfer to a four-year business program. Students master the principles of business and managerial communications through analyzing various kinds of business messages and writing informatively, analytically, and persuasively for business purposes. They consider multiple audiences and the implications for clear and complete communication. They produce letters and memos, a research project, and an in-depth analysis of an organization and its corporate culture.

Technical Requirements: These ENG 209 class sections (CRNs 35021, 35022, 35023) are Writing Intensive and conducted on the
Internet.

To be successful, you should have a UH email account, a user account for the UH Library system, access to WWW sites, a familiarity with text files, an understanding of email attachments, and some facility with
PowerPoint presentations.

The Internet allows students to take a course at home using a personal computer. Familiarity with using a computer and basic Internet skills (browsing, sending e-mail, saving/sending files) is required. Students must have a computer with Internet access. Depending on the online course, students may be required to log in at a specific day and time or at anytime. Students taking an online course should always contact their instructor after registration or prior to the first day of class to get detailed information regarding the course.
