Course Description: JPNS 201 is the first half of an intermediate course on spoken and written Japanese. It is designed to reinforce the fundamentals of the
Japanese language skills introduced in the elementary level. It also aims at developing the functional ability to communicate in Japanese beyond the survival level.
Technical Requirements: This JPNS 102 class section (CRN 32213) is a complete on-line cable TV class.

Additional Notes: Students must be Oceanic Time Warner Cable subscribers to view the broadcast for this course on Ch. 355 on Oahu, Kauai and Hawaii and Ch. 55 on Maui.

As an alternative to Cable TV viewing, filedrop service for the entire lesson will be available.

For additional information please go to the following website:
http://www.hawaii.edu/dlus/UHTV/index.html.

It is an internet class taught via cable TV and the computer (Laulima) so students do not attend any campus classroom. What is required is:
1) a Japanese-ready computer that can play and record mp3 sound files;
2) flash-based files;
3) a microphone;
4) a web camera; and
5) have reliable access to a high-speed internet connection.

After registering for this section, students need to check their MyUH email for announcements about class cancellations, UH system announcements, and/or email.

For instructions on making your computer Japanese-ready, please contact the instructor via email (thomask@hawaii.edu).

Course instructions will be sent via Laulima so students must have a UH email address.
