ECOM 100 provides an introduction to the technology and history of the Internet and its uses as an electronic commerce media from informational websites to full online retail systems. Included in the introductory survey will be analysis and evaluation of retail and business-to-business Internet-based systems. Course work includes Web page design and the construction of a business-style Web site, and in depth Internet and online marketing techniques.

Working knowledge of personal computer systems and the ability to operate standard web browsers and use e-mail comfortably. Must be fluent using Laulima. Must be able to download and open files in common formats. Must download, install, and use Skype from skype.com. Must be able to use Google Drive (GoogleDocs & GoogleSites). Must be able to attach files to email and send them to another person. Must check UH email daily for course updates.
Required assignments include: online discussion, papers, and creation of a five page Web site. No testing.
