| Course Restrictions: | ED 285 is intended for DOE educational paraprofessionals. Others may enroll on a space-available basis. |
| Course Description: | ED 285 is an introductory course that offers the student exposure to the legal and ethical issues of classroom management in the field of Special Education. Behavioral assessment, strategies and interventions will be introduced. Learning styles, learning theory, instructional assessment, planning and delivery will also be addressed.

| Technical Requirements: | Cable allows students to take a course at home. To enroll in a cable course, students must subscribe to Oceanic Time Warner Cable to view the higher education access channel:
Oahu County: Olelo channel 55 Maui County: MCCTV channel 55 Hawaii County: Na Leo O Hawaii channel 55 Kauai County: Hoike channel 55 Before registering for the course, prospective students should check with their cable provider or programming line-up to verify they can view the education cable access channel at their home. If student resides in a region of their county that is unable to receive the educational cable access channel listed above, the student should not register for this course via cable. It is recommended that students also have an email address and access to a computer with Internet connection to communicate with instructor and classmates. For more information in regards to obtaining a UH email account please go to the following website: http://www.hawaii.edu/askus/563 It is recommended that students videotape the broadcast of their class sessions in case they are unable to view it during the scheduled broadcast time.
