| Course Description: | HWST 107 is a survey of the Pacific Islands of Melanisia, Micronesia, and Polynesia; their various origins, geography, languages, religions, colonial histories and modern development, seen through the cultural lens of the Hawaiian people.
This HWST 107 class section meets the H-focus requirement. |

| Technical Requirements: | Cable allows students to take a course at home. To enroll in a cable course, students must be a cable subscriber to access the higher education channel:
Oahu County: Olelo channel 55 Maui County: MCCTV channel 55 Hawaii County: Na Leo O Hawaii channel 55 Kauai County: Hoike channel 55 Before registering for the course, prospective students should check with their cable provider or programming line-up to verify they can view the education cable access channel at their home. If student resides in a region of their county that is unable to receive the educational cable access channel listed above, the student should not register for this course via cable. It is recommended that students videotape the broadcast of their class sessions in case they are unable to view it during the scheduled broadcast time. Students should be familiar with setting the timer on their VCR or DVR to record. It is recommended that students review the Tips for Cable Students http://www.hawaii.edu/dlus/UHTV/tips.html Course also includes an online component. Familiarity with using a computer and basic Internet skills (browsing, sending e-mail, saving/sending files) is required. Students must have a computer with Internet access and a UH email account.
