| Course Prerequisites: | Completion of English 22, 32, or 60 or placement in English 100.

| Course Description: | This course is concerned with the nature of culture; an introduction to basic concepts of analyzing cultural behavior; patterning, integration, and dynamics of culture; culture and the individual and cultural change.
There are 30, one hour lectures, delivered via cable television. In addition to viewing the broadcasts and reading the textbook and study guide, students will have homework assignments. Extra credit work is available. Closed Captioned |

| Technical Requirements: | Cable allows students to take a course at home. To enroll in a cable course, students must subscribe to Oceanic Time Warner Cable to view the higher education access channel:
Oahu County: Olelo channel 55 Maui County: MCCTV channel 55 Hawaii County: Na Leo O Hawaii channel 55 Kauai County: Hoike channel 55 Before registering for the course, prospective students should check with their cable provider or programming line-up to verify they can view the education cable access channel at their home. If student resides in a region of their county that is unable to receive the educational cable access channel listed above, the student should not register for this course via cable. It is recommended that students videotape the broadcast of their class sessions in case they are unable to view it during the scheduled broadcast time. Students should be familiar with setting the timer on their VCR or DVR to record. It is recommended that students review the Tips for Cable Students http://www.hawaii.edu/dlus/UHTV/tips.html Course also includes an online component. Familiarity with using a computer and basic Internet skills (browsing, sending e-mail, saving/sending files) is required. Students must have a computer with Internet access and a UH email account.
