Course Requirements:
The instructor will contact students by email prior to the start of
the semester. Students must check their hawaii.edu email accounts for course information at the start of the semester.
Course Prerequisites:
Prerequisite: Either of the following, or articulated equivalent, within the past two years will qualify a student for MATH 100: CR in MATH 82 OR qualifying
placement test score (50 or higher in the COMPASS Algebra placement domain).
Course Description:
MATH 100 includes a variety of selected mathematical topics designed to acquaint
students with examples of mathematical reasoning. The topics included in a given section or academic term are chosen by the instructor to demonstrate the beauty and power of mathematics from applied, symbolic, and abstract standpoints. MATH 100 is not intended as, and does not qualify as, a prerequisite for advanced mathematics courses.
Textbooks:
Requires MyMathLab for online assignments. New textbook packages at the
LCC bookstore include MyMathLab access code. Students considering purchasing the textbook elsewhere must ensure MyMathLab code is included or must
purchase access online. This course cannot be completed entirely at home. Quizzing and testing must be proctored at the Leeward CC Math Testing Center
(MS 203) or at a UH system test center (see http://www.hawaii.edu/dl/testcenters for locations).
