Course Requirements: Students are required to use Microsoft Office and have a basic familiarity with the Internet.

ICS 101 is required for Certificates of Completion in Programming, Database Administration, Help Desk Support Services and Payroll Preparer.

It also meets requirements for Shidler College of Business (UHM), College of Business at Hilo (UHH), or School of Travel Industry Management (TIM), UHM's Biology program and Botany Department.

ICS courses often use a lot of technology. Students need to be able to access course related technologies outside their classroom. This may require Internet access, proprietary software access (e.g. Microsoft Office 2007 on Windows PC), and /or specific hardware specifications to successfully use course applications.

Keyboarding experience; credit or qualification for ENG 100, ENG 160, or ESL 100; credit or qualification for MATH 103 or higher level Mathematics.
Course Description: ICS 101 examines the utilization of major application packages as tools in business problem-solving.

These class sections have a 16 week schedule and are not self-paced.

The Internet allows students to take a course at home using a personal computer. Familiarity with using a computer and basic Internet skills (browsing, sending e-mail, saving/sending files) is required. Students must have a computer with Internet access. Depending on the online course, students may be required to log in at a specific day and time or at anytime. Students taking an online course should always contact their instructor after registration or prior to the first day of class to get detailed information regarding the course.
