This is a cable course via Oceanic Cable, with support materials using the UH System Laulima web site, the HCC server, or a combination.
Course Requirements:
Before the first day of instruction, email your intructor that you have registered for the course. The starting point for the class is

Course Prerequisites:
College level reading, writing and mathematics.
Course Description:
Integration of natural science concepts basic to study of human nutrition. Emphasis on nutrient requirements of healthy individuals through life cycle, food sources, functions and interrelationships of nutrients.

FSHN 185 is equivalent to FSHN 185 offered at UH Manoa and other UH system community colleges.

Students complete three written assignments at home and three take-home exams (2 midterms, 1 final).

Course is closed captioned.

Cable allows students to take a course at home. To enroll in a cable course, students must subscribe to Oceanic Time Warner Cable to view the higher education access channel:

Before registering for the course, prospective students should check with their cable provider or programming line-up to verify they can view the education cable access channel at their home. If student resides in a region of their county that is unable to receive the educational cable access channel listed above, the student should not register for this course via cable.

It is recommended that students videotape the broadcast of their class sessions in case they are unable to view it during the scheduled broadcast time. Students should be familiar with setting the timer on their VCR or DVR to record.

Course also includes an online component. Familiarity with using a computer and basic Internet skills (browsing, sending e-mail, saving/sending files) is required.
