| Course Description: | Closed captioned.
GG 101 includes 30, one-hour video programs based on the series "Earth Revealed," a production of the Southern California Consortium. Assignments include 4 exams taken at home and a written report about a self-guided field trip. Take a tour of planet Earth through this introductory college-level geology course. Students learn about the Earth's physical environment: plate tectonics and other internal processes, earthquakes, mountain building, rocks, minerals, volcanoes, landscape development, and man's relationship with Earth's hazards and resources. Examine how interacting geological systems impact the Earth and the environment and how our everyday activities are linked to acts of nature. 4 exams taken at home. Homework project includes a self-guided tour. |

| Technical Requirements: | Cable allows students to take a course at home. To enroll in a cable course, students must subscribe to Oceanic Time Warner Cable to view the higher education access channel:

If student resides in a region of their county that is unable to receive the educational cable access channel listed above, the student should not register for this course via cable. It is recommended that students videotape the broadcast of their class sessions in case they are unable to view it during the scheduled broadcast time. Students should be familiar with setting the timer on their VCR or DVR to record. It is recommended that students review the Tips for Cable Students http://www.hawaii.edu/dlus/UHTV/tips.html Course also includes an online component. Familiarity with using a computer and basic Internet skills (browsing, sending e-mail, saving/sending files) is required. Students must have a computer with Internet access and a UH email account.
