| Course Description: | A broad survey of materials used in construction and buildings and other structures comprised of those materials. Materials and methods
of light wood construction, lumber classifications and uses, plywood, concrete, metals, plaster, and drywall, glass, equipment, and electrical and mechanical systems are some of the topics studied. Exams are taken on campus at Honolulu Community College or other approved locations. Requirements: Miscellaneous construction materials and tools for (1) a small 3-dimensional model and (2) an illustration board display project. Materials such as an X-Acto knife, a "foam core" board, etc. (along with sizes and other requirements) will be listed in the first "class." Send e-mail to instructor at doug@hcc.hawaii.edu before the end of the first day of instruction. |

| Technical Requirements: | The Internet allows students to take a course at home using a personal computer. Familiarity with using a computer and basic Internet skills (browsing, sending e-mail, saving/sending files) is required. Students must have a computer with Internet access. Depending on the online course, students may be required to log in at a specific day and time or at anytime. Students taking an online course should always contact their instructor after registration or prior to the first day of class to get detailed information regarding the course.
