Students are required to use Microsoft Office and have a basic familiarity with the Internet. ICS courses often use a lot of technology.
The Internet allows students to take a course at home using a personal computer. Familiarity with using a computer and basic Internet skills (browsing, sending e-mail, saving/sending files) is required. Students must have a computer with Internet access. Depending on the online course, students may be required to log in at a specific day and time or at anytime. Students taking an online course should always contact their instructor after registration or prior to the first day of class to get detailed information regarding the course.
Minimum Computer Hardware/Software Requirements:
Students are required to use Microsoft Office 2007 and have a basic familiarity with the Internet. ICS courses often use a lot of technology. Students need to be able to access course related technologies outside their classroom. This may require Internet access, proprietary software access (e.g. Microsoft Office 2007 on Windows PC), and/or specific
hardware specifications to successfully use course applications. ICS 100 students may be required to purchase storage for electronic media to store data files and assignments created as course projects. SimNet is a required tutorial and homework application for this course. A license for its use is included with each
new textbook purchased from KapCC Bookstore. Students buying a used text or ordering one online which does not include the license will be required to purchase the program. For class information contact the instructor via email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
