Tourism is currently Hawaii's most important industry. Technology is considered to be one of Hawaii's most important new industries, with huge potential to impact the travel industry in Hawaii and elsewhere. Does this present an opportunity for Hawaii to create a nexus where Technology meets Travel, or will Hawaii miss the proverbial boat? January's High Tech Hawaii will focus on the intersection of technology and travel and highlight where Hawaii is and where we need to go if we are to succeed. Our expert guests will include:

Susan Scott, a successful Silicon Valley entrepreneur who has returned home to Hawaii and now heads Get2Hawaii, which focuses on the online booking marketplace;

Mark Hukill, a UH graduate who recently returned from Singapore and is now Interim Associate Dean of the School of Travel Industry Management; and

High Tech Hawaii is a live monthly call-in show produced by the University of Hawaii to shed light on high technology activities within the state. It airs live on the fourth Tuesday of each month during the academic year from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. It is webcast live and can be seen on PEG Access cable channels throughout the state as well as on Craig TV. On O'ahu Cable it is aired live on Oceanic Channel 55, on Hawaii Cable Channel 54, on Kauai Channel 10, and on Craig TV 21.
