  Student Internship Program

Distributed Learning and User Services, DLUS, is currently offering volunteer student internship opportunities at the University of Hawaii, Manoa campus. Student Interns will be trained by professional staff members in each selected departmental area. These internships provide opportunities for students to experience the fast paced, exciting, and ever changing world of distance learning and instructional technologies. Students will gain real life technical experience, skill, and knowledge which can be applied to future careers in multiple technological and educational fields. In addition, this opportunity may lead to student job placement within the department upon completion of the internship program.

Look at the opportunities below. If you need internship credits for graduation, please contact your internship coordinator in your own department. They will supply you with needed contact and general information for applying to the Distributed Learning and User Services Internship Program. At this time due to limited intern positions, internships will not be offered during the summer and prospective students must apply. If interested in one of our internship positions please use the on-line Internship Application Form. This form will be forwarded to your department internship coordinators. There is also a PDF version of the application available, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader software to view and print the PDF form.

You will be contacted as soon as possible as to position availability and interview times. *Application deadline is on Friday, one week after the beginning of each semester, or until positions are filled.

ITV

Distributed Learning via Interactive Television is looking for student interns who would enjoy the opportunity to work in an educational technological environment. Selected interns will learn various types of multimedia applications and production values as it relates to distance learning. Under the supervision of a Program Producer, interns will gain technical and production skills applicable to daily operations in an interactive television (ITV) classroom. Through hands-on training, interns will learn to operate a variety of video production and multimedia equipment such as audio boards, switchers, character generator, and remote operated cameras during live and interactive distance learning courses. The intern may also gain experience in remote video production, if there is a video project scheduled. Basic computer and video production literacy and self-motivation are desirable qualifications. The internship requires students to work flexible hours and be available mornings, evenings, and weekends.

DMC

The Digital Media Center (DMC) is searching for a single student intern to interact with staff, faculty, fellow students, and technology in an exciting, supportive, and friendly atmosphere. The selected intern should have general skills in photoshop, scanning, video editing, computer troubleshooting, Internet support, Web design and be able to tutor/teach faculty, staff and students in a computer lab environment, although training will be provided. They may be asked to experience and learn new software and write instructional manuals for users.

WebCT Interns

DLUS is currently accepting student interns for training in utilizing Web Course Tools, WebCT, in providing assistance to faculty in altering, managing, and uploading course files into individual WebCT accounts. Selected interns will be trained in using WebCT and under supervision, will assist faculty in putting their courses on-line. Intern duties may involve altering course files into HTML, uploading, scanning images, rendering graphics, and providing minor instructional and technical support.
