Q. I can't get into the Chat rooms, what is wrong?

The chat rooms in WebCT require "Java" to operate properly. Double check your browser settings at <http://webct.com/exchange/viewpage?name=exchange_browser_tuneup#settings>.

Make sure the Java function is turned on in the browser:

• Netscape: Edit > Preferences and highlight the word "Advanced in the left frame. Check the "Enable Java" and "Enable Javascript" boxes.
• IE: View > Internet Options > Advanced > Enable Java JIT Compiler.

Q. How can I make the Chat logs available for my students?

Chat logs are typically for instructor/designer viewing, but you could copy and paste information into a discussions forum composition box, or on a single page for students to directly link to.

Q. Is it best to have the newest version of Netscape when participating in Chat?

Not particularly, yet some older versions have caused loading and viewing difficulties. Please check out the browser compatibility list for working with our version of WebCT (WebCT 3.8) at the following URL <http://webct.com/exchange/viewpage?name=exchange_browser_tuneup#version>
