Q. How do I obtain a WebCT course account? Currently we are in the process of upgrading to WebCT4.1x. You can fill out a request form from the following URL: http://webctsupport.hawaii.edu (log in with your UH ID and Password).
Q. Something isn't working, who do I notify? If something is not working with WebCT fill out the WebCT problem report that either pops up when having difficulties, or from the main UH WebCT log in page at: http://webct.hawaii.edu Q. How do I log in as an instructor? Go to the main UH WebCT page at <http://webct.hawaii.edu>, under the header for "Returning Users ", select "Log on to myWebCT" and enter your WebCT ID and password given to you by the system administrator when you requested the course. Q. What is a Welcome Page used for? The Welcome Page is a public area that is accessable from the Course Listings area with no need for a WebCT ID and password. It is an area where you can introduce your course to prospective students and allow either self registration or non-self registration directly from the page. NOTE: the process of student access will change with the implementation of the UH Banner System (part of the Student Information System Project Management) tentavely slotted for Fall 2003. Q. Where can I find out about WebCT workshops? There are a variety of semester based faculty development workshops, check the listings at: http://www.hawaii.edu/talent Q. What happens to my course at the end of the semester? Currently, courses at UH have been left on the server, but we strongly urge designers to create a backup for downloading and "reset" their courses at the end of each semester. Resetting aids in decreasing WebCT server space, wipes out statistacal and student information in the quiz, discussions, mail, and student database areas. If need be, you can also request to have your course title altered to match each semesters offering. Contact mcconnel@hawaii.edu or yves@hawaii.edu for detailed directions in the resetting process and altering of course titles. Q. I know nothing about HTML, can I take a workshop? You can request assistance in HTML from the following: kchan@hawaii.edu, mcconnel@hawaii.edu, or yves@hawaii.edu Q. I need an HTML editor, which one should I use? Netscape Communicator has a built in editor called Netscape Composer which works well with retouching HTML document files from within your WebCT account or from your local computer.
