WebCT FAQ's
Chat allows you to talk to any of your classmates and instructor that are logged into WebCT in real time (everyone logged in at same time), so they can read what you type as you type it, and vice-versa. Q. Does it matter what browser I use? Yes, currently support browsers are Netscape or Internet Explorer. Check out supported browser versions for working with UH WebCT (3.8x) and settings at <http://webct.com/exchange/viewpage?name=exchange_browser_tuneup>. Q. How do I find out who logged on? When students enter a room, their names are displayed on screen. Q. How do I participate in chat? Typing in a message and clicking the return key will enter you into the discussion. Q. Why are some rooms recorded? Chat rooms 1 through 4 can be logged so that instructors can hold online tutorial sessions or gauge participation in assigned discussion topics, while capturing a transcript of the conversation to review later, or for the benefit of students unable to attend live. Q. Can I send a private message in chat? Yes, by, selecting the recipient of the message and then typing your message.
