Chinese

The Chinese Section of EALL consists of two subsections, i.e. Chinese language & linguistics and Chinese literary & cultural studies. Offering faculty expertise in linguistics, language pedagogy, literary and cultural studies, the Chinese Section is one of the largest of its kind in North-America and outside East Asia. Its uniqueness lies in the multidisciplinary faculty composition and an interdisciplinary research orientation.

Undergraduate and graduate degrees are offered by the two Chinese subsections. In addition to the regular B.A. degree in Chinese language and culture, the Chinese Section also offers an undergraduate Certificate and a Minor in Chinese language. At the graduate level, M.A. and Ph.D. degrees are offered in Chinese Language & Linguistics, and in Chinese Literary & Cultural Studies, with a focus on either the classical, pre-modern, or 20th century period.

Additional cultural activities, resources, and exchange opportunities are available through the Center for Chinese Studies.
