Placement Tests
If you have never studied Japanese and would like to begin study at the 101 or 111 level, no placement test is necessary. Go to Moore Hall 382 to fill out a form for special permission to register for a beginning language class.
Incoming students who already have some Japanese language experience and would like to continue studying at higher levels must take a placement test.
All incoming graduate students whose area of study is Japanese and who are not native speakers of Japanese are required to undergo a placement test during their first semester of study in order to evaluate any deficiencies.
