Graduate Korean Programs

All Korean graduate programs are recognized WICHE regional graduate programs. Residents of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming are eligible, upon admission, to enroll at resident tuition rates.

M.A. in Korean Language & Linguistics

This program is designed to provide students with advanced professional training in the history and structure of Korean. Within each area of concentration, the student may choose to emphasize either language pedagogy or linguistics. The program is also intended to provide academic training and practical teaching experience for future teachers of Korean as a Second Language. The faculty and facilities in the area of teaching East Asian languages are numerous and diverse and encouragement is given to those interested in pursuing teaching careers. (View Requirements)

M.A. in Korean Literature

The M.A. degree is offered in the field of Korean literary and cultural studies for various genres in modern and pre-modern periods. The program is designed to provide students with advanced professional training and scholarly expertise in the history, theory, and culture of the chosen literature and/or genres from a specific period. The program is also intended to provide academic training and practical teaching experience for future teachers of Korean literary and cultural studies. The Ph.D. in East Asian Languages & Linguistics is offered with concentrations in Korean language pedagogy and linguistics and comparative studies exploring the relations of languages of East Asia.
