Always reached out to help us

She emails the students with important updates and makes sure we understand everything in class. She goes out of her way to understand individual needs and problems (like me using a different DAW).

By making adjustments for our schedules and actively participating in our learning process.

22. What did you especially like/dislike about the way the instructor taught this course?

I liked everything about the course. I learned a lot having to do with mixing and recording samples in a short amount of time, all the while having a great deal of fun!

I liked how she was very clear when she explained complicated subjects.

23. What else would you like to say about this instructor?

She knows her stuff well, and is an excellent instructor.

She uses laulima very well. She updates grades on assignments and exams rapidly. She uploads movies on the subject matter which is very helpful.

She is awesome.

24. Would you recommend this instructor to other students? Why or why not?

Absolutely. Anyone with an interest in digital recording should take her courses.

Absolutely. There is no reason to not take her classes.

25. Other comments:

There were no pointless assignments in this class. Everything was done to achieve an end, and it was all immensely helpful. Thanks for a great semester!

she can help you outside of class and will let you borrow any materials you don't have at home to help you complete your assignment

She went out of her way outside of class to help myself and other students

She wants us to succeed and pass the class. She answers any questions we as students may have for her.

She was always willing to help and offer advice even if I asked questions about personal music projects.

She is understanding with project due times because acess to the computers is limited for most students.

She and I have exchanged emails that greatly improved my knowledge about recording at home. She also responds to student questions in class in a professional and precise manner.

She made sure that she was always available to aid the students in their assignments as much as possible, and was always patient and clear when doing so.

She is sympathetic to the fact that life can take over at times. With proper notification she is very understanding of circumstance. Thank you!

Before each project, quiz, or homework assignment, Renee would go over the material with the class. For any errors in assignments, she would write the correct answer with an explanation.

that she explained everything down to the small details

Learning the material was easy thanks to in class help as well as videos she posted on laulima

I like that she makes the lessons fun and easy to learn.

She always seemed very knowledgeable about what she was teaching.

I enjoyed the hands on ability with the programs. The video examples are amazing and the in class discussions were fun.

I liked the way she described the different components of recording and sound engineering. I had done research on my own via the internet, but she described it better than any forum online could have.

The course was taught with an excellent combination of experience in the subject and openness when more attention to the specific students is needed.

The use of Laulima! Posting the content of the course on-line for reference purposes is extremely helpful!

Her knowledge of the subject and method of teaching it was outstanding.

Renee Arakaki is a great teacher and very talented i have no suggestions.

I would love to see courses for different styles of music offered, afrocuban latin would be great. this course was awesome i had acquired a lot of knowledge through out my years playing but this course helped me put it together and understand what was in my head. Renee did an awesome job would love to take more of her classes.

I would like more ear/vocal training in class for solfege and for recognizing interval quality.

Renne is one of this school's best assets and I will be sad to see her leave. She is a teacher of such high caliber that when i forget why i am in school she reminds me without knowing she does. She is out to help the students first and foremost, and goes above and beyond what is required to give the students the best possible experience and education.

I recommend this class to others who are at least a little experienced with digital music production and interested in sharpening their skills and learning new ones.

It would be great to have MORE music production classes like this one including more advanced classes. Expanding music classes period (music theory, composition, etc.) would be fantastic! Renee Arakaki's knowledge and teaching skill has been inspirational and educational to the point that it has re-awakened my passion for learning and for creating music.

I enjoyed creating projects from scratch and making my kind of music. It was very rewarding to put out pieces that I created and seeing how it could be tweaked and made better. I've learned alot about music in this course.

the ability to create our own music was by far the best part, and i learned a lot of very interesting and immediately functional techniques to use in both arranging and recording music. ms. arakaki showed us many very useful project samples, audio clips, and videos to help demonstrate what we were learning.

I was a little overwhelmed with projects, tests and quizzes. The time frame or due time was spaced fairly, but i believe we could use a little more time to put out better music.

I felt like the grading was too strict most of the time. more than once, one mistake on a test would translate to something like a quarter of the entire points. i tried to blame myself each time i'd make silly mistakes, but i constantly felt that I was being graded verrry harshly for just a few mistakes. this never makes a student feel good about a class, and there are many other ways to prove a point to a student than to damage their grades. I feel like a very attentive student in this class, and have only missed the class once. She expects us to learn a lot of very specific information (terms, techniques, procedures, etc...) and then chooses to grade us harshly. I find this a little hard to handle..... please back off a bit?

The time of the class, 7:15pm-8:40pm is quite late and worries my relatives.

YES! And I have! As a musician that is friends with many other musicians, this course gives a new view other than your instrument and yourself. Another way to fine tune yourself.

how to simulate an proportional track and simulating it to become well balanced in order to bounce it to the correct mp3 file.

I now know how to use Logic and Gearbox on a Mac, and I also learned many techniques on making professional quality music.

It gave me the satisfaction that I kinda know how to produce and create my own music...the only thing I need now is my own equipment...

I love music. It's what I do. To experience it in a class with other people, and play live with them, that is fun and hopefully magical for others. Great course!

Music production was performed on a Mac-only based program. Also, there weren't freedom projects; the type of projects you work on by yourself.
