| This was my first time being enrolled in a Digital Media Arts class and Im glad that I tried something
new and different. Especially since I am not a DMA major but a Hawaii Life Styles-Lawai'a major. I
liked being able to learn new artistic ways of expressing myself as well as of the different types of
available careers that these programs are used for everyday, such as logos and movies. As we were
taught each program I liked something about each one. From being able to manipulate colors,
shapes, and sizes, to seeing my own designs and animations come alive right before my very eyes.
In taking this class I found that I could do things that I was never able to do before, which gave me a
new sense of confidence that I can proudly say this class contributed to! |

programs, he works hard to make sure that all the students are equally equipped to use the

accounted for 35% of our grade. I believe that attendance should not play such a big weight in the
grading. When we have work days, I personally would like to work out of class, and I feel that I can
do more in that way. |

Steve was an integral part of this process, as every time I hit a wall, he guided me back to the path. |
| I liked the rate Steven provided through the course of the semester: the activities were fun and challenging. He helped me understand what pace would be best to succeed in his class. With my busy schedule that was very helpful in helping me excel in my learning of the course work and succeeding with the projects and assignments he had the class do. |

| Steve Parente seems to have a grasp for what his students need, and he is able to perform in all aspects of design. I can't think of any suggestions for improvement. |

He should teach slower and make sure everybody is with him, other than go fast and have to go individually help all the people that were lost. He definitely went too fast sometimes and was kind of impatient latter. But he is a good person and teacher just need to understand that a introduction class is hard. |

| The assignments were laid out for each program what we used.
The step by step scripts were helpful although there were shortcuts which were not duly explained so that when I worked directly from the script, I got stuck. |
| I like that he didn't have a "set" deadline for our projects! I liked that I got to experience the Adobe Illustrator and Photo Shop Programs..they seem to be my favorites! =) I did not favor so much the Flash and Dreamweaver Program. |
| I really enjoyed this course, Steve is a great teacher. I liked that there wasnt very much "homework" ,
he gave us plenty time to do our assignments in class. This made it easy for me, since i didnt have
any of the digital arts programs at home. I also liked that he covered a lot of topics , even though
we had to rush through a few concepts, we got them all down. I liked how Steve showed the class
some of his art that he did for people , it showed us that there are jobs out there for these skills. |

| Sometimes, there was too much talk which left me wondering where the lesson was going. Beginners don't need to know all the fine details of programming. Identify what we are going to do? Show examples. Create a step by step script on how to do it. Demonstrate. Give us a simple task to work on our own using the script that was given. |
| Maybe just jumping in and getting to the project assignment. I felt that there were delays here and there when trying to complete task or examples of some of the projects. |

| Overall, Mr. Parente is a great instructor! He is somone when approached with a question, he takes the time to answer or encourage more to it. | Steven Parente teaching methods was very interesting and i obtained allot of information on how to use Maya. I am looking forward to the next semester of this course and any future classes with mr. Parente |
| I liked the projects alot. I thought they were very basic which is exactly what an intro course should have. |
| I never used the programs before and I literally learned from scratch how to make the animation, which was challenching but also very fun. |
| It was interesting drawing out the 2D picture and turning into 3D form for poipounder and robot project, and messing around with the tangents to get the correct timing for the bouncing ball project. |

14. Any suggestions to improve this course?

| The only thing i would recommend, is to have structured lab hour sessions. Many times i tried to get into the class when it was empty, only to find the door locked and lights off. I was hoping to get in here to work on some of my projects, but no one was here to help me or open the door to the lab. |
| Shorten the class time! Its too bloody long. |
| No other suggestions rather than thinking up new assingments for future students. I like the course as of now. |
