13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
Ms. Nakama was very easy to talk to and always connected to the students well.
Friendly, knowledgeable, understanding...You can tell she cares about her subject matter.
She has a local attribute to her that I really enjoy. She is very well organized and mindful to her subject.
Awesome Teacher!
She is very knowledgeable and very easy to understand. She kept a great atmosphere through out the entire course. She relates to all her students better than I have seen most teachers.
She's not lazy, she gives plenty of resources to further explain the subject matter. I like creative writing, I believe it inspires more thought, and understanding of the information being presented. I feel like I actually learned something in her class! I can't say the same for my other classes.
Great teaching methods.
Shes fairly young so she seemed like she could relate to the students well. She was realistic when it came to assingments and deadlines, since she was a student not too long ago. Shes also always happy and energetic. Always giggling! She seemed really passionate about her field, which is refreshing with teachers. Her instructions were clear and she always offered help outside of class.
Makes the class interesting and makes it her own teaching ways. She is passionate about her teaching and makes her teaching her style and no one else's. she gives and gives to others.
Super cool and easy to feel comfortable around
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Stop being so lenient with some of your students, strictly convey your expectations of a scholarly paper/project with an emphases on proper citations ONCE, then if they (citations) are not met...instant zero, no sweat off your back. Don't hand out extra time just because the bulk of students didn't meet the expectation. They all know they need to cite work, they are just taking advantage of it not being spelled out for them or simply being lazy...
I would make a class project where everyone brings in food item. These items need to be, what they believe to be, a unique way of saving the earth. Whether it be from the local markets/farmer's markets, self grown, homemade with all natural ingredients etc.
I suggest she ask for a raise, because she's an awesome teacher!
none.
no changes
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
Lots of understanding, willing to work with students, willing to go over subject matter that is not required by her course in order to improve a students learning experience and quality of work...(English...sigh).
She was very kind and energetic with everyones questions. She definetely did not make a student feel dumb, ever...
Jaime gave each student individual attention, and helped us to write better papers. She wanted us to get the course and help us to be better students.
always willing to help in any way.
She emailed us almost every week giving updates on students who missed class. This is very rare with college proffessors, since most just assume that its our responsibility and dont seem to care. She was always avaialable after class if you had any questions.
Was very fair with test, quizzes, and finals. A very approachable person with a big heart for teaching.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes. She had a variety of teaching methods and engaged students to want to learn more.
Yes, she was a good, fair, knowledgeable teacher who presented her material in a clear, structured, and interesting way.
Yes, she's a great teacher if you wanted to learn the thinking, feeling, and evolution of human beings.
I already have, I tell all my friends in my other classes, Antho 151 is a great course to take.
Yes. makes class interesting and fun to learn.
Yes. I loved her class.
YESSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
She's really fun and there are alot of hands on things we got to do. so yes it was a great class
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
She did extremely well considering the quality of most her students work...
GREAT CLASS! I wish I could take it again.
Not about, but to. I know she travels a lot and I would like to say that it would be a pleasure to run into her in another country and totally get surprised. I say this because my wife and I travel a lot and even out of pure coincidence, I had traveled to the Maya civilization ruins (Yucatan Peninsula)...the project I had during this course.
I think what ever your paying her it's not enough! She's an amaziingly good teacher! I'm considering switching my major to Anthropology.
Genuinely a good person.
Jamie is a great teacher and is talented in everything. She has a big heart so she loves to give what she knows and shares herself with all of us. Is clear on what she wants and how she wants things. I love how she brought a guest speaker, watch movies, and makes us do projects.
18. Other comments:
This course gave me a life changing feeling about many things, good and perhaps not so good, but I did learn many concepts which I will have to seriously marinade on...
Give her more classes, and I'll sign me up!
GOOD JOB! Keep up what you are doing becasue alot of students will appreciate your creativeness and energy!
thank you for everything

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
- flexible schedule - gave students second chances to redeem themself (extra credit) - gives a variety of different learning styles (hands on, reading the textbook, ppts lectures)
She really connects with her students and she knows how to teach in a way that is fun while also being able to go over the class material with her great teaching methods.
Nice, very kind, very very objective teaching style, pushed students to open minds and explore what is important in life!
She's enthusiastic about her subject.
She is very knowledgeable and very passionate about this subject.
Even though the things we learn in class were a lot harder than i expected, our teacher was great.
she knew about anthropology and knew how to deliver information
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Nothing. It was excellent just the way it was.
Maybe cut some of the book reading down.
none
Why does this class have to be only at 7:45 am? That's way too early and at least should give other time class choice to students.. Why only one class at that time?? WHY??? And maybe little too many videos in class.. I mean the videos are pretty interesting but i wish there was fewer videos and more lecture.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
- answered questions - class discussion to make sure we understood the topic
She would always encourage us to speak our minds and to bring intelligent discussions to the class. If there were things that we didn't quite understand she was always willing and happy to go back to go over anything in a more clear way.
She would answer questions, ask questions and take time after class for students.
she would give us things to think about from our point a view. Also I would say that after taking her class we become more open minded.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
yes, she is an easy going teacher that is passionate about her work. its always easy learning from someone who loves their job. plus, there's a lot of hands on learning.
I would most definitely recommend Jamie to other students. She made anthropology a fun class while still teaching effectively and efficiently. If she taught any other of my required course classes I would pick her over any other teacher.
Yes, she is a great person and a good teacher who cares.
Yes, she is outgoing and knows her subject well.
yes, because you earn alot and she makes it really fun to learn especially when the class is at 7:45am.
Yeah as long as you can wake up that early.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
YOU'RE AN AWESOME TEACHER!
She is the kind of teacher that I wish other teachers were like.
Great person
18. Other comments:

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
She's full of energy and has great charisma. She was always smiling and was always in a great mood. Even if we didn't do something the right way she would allow us to try again. You want to drag yourself out of bed and go to her class at 7:45 in the morning!!! Not very many teachers have that talent! :) She also creates a great learning atmosphere and encourages you to learn more about anthropology.
Very lienient to students
A very good and understanding teacher.
I learned. Didn't have any problems. No further comment.
Provided a good learning environment. Took time to hear out concerns
everything
Very polite and nice
Knew subject quite well so she was able to teach the important concepts to us in a precise, clear way. She was available for us students if we had any concerns or questions. Her teaching methods provided us a good learning environment.
Her power points were alwasy very resourceful; helps when there's a test coming up.
she knows what she wants to teach and how to make it very clear to all of her students
She is a super nice teacher that knows her material. I enjoy going to class bc the material is also very interesting.
She's very down to Earth and extremely understanding. I really liked her as a teacher.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
I would suggest more group time after watching a video. Maybe make a game or something for us to throw opinions around before we do our reaction papers.
well, I sometimes forget to turn in hard copies even if I had them done. I'm pretty sure that effected my grade.
On projects, show examples of other projects that students might have done to clearly show what to do. It'll be nice after projects or exams, to find out how well we are doing in class overall.
none
more time in class
NONE
No suggestions, just get a different classroom with air condition. It was way too hot in class
I would say maybe making the curriculum a little clearer.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
She was always available after class if you had questions, office hours or by e-mail. She always encouraged us to be prompt on our homework assignments to help better ourselves.
Asked questions and asked for feedback.
yes she is the best
she always asked the class as a whole if they had any questions or concerns, she was very helpfull.
In class, she would constantly ask if we had any questions or if we didnt understand anything. She encouraged us to participate in discussions and she created a good atmosphere for learning about anthropology.
made sure every assignment was understood to all students she always told us to email for any questions
She would always be easy to contact through email. She also responded to emails very quickly
She always emailed the students reminding them of upcoming due dates. I think she really wanted her students to succeed in the class and it definitely showed. That made all the difference and I really appreciate it when teachers show that they care about their students. I loved Jamie Nakama!
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Definitely YES! For all of the above reasons!
yes. It was a good class that my friend recommended to me so I took it. I would recommend it to other students also.
Yes I would recommend. She made students such as I who don't believe in evolution to have some fun in this class. The videos helped me understand a lot and projects.
yes
yes. Shes a good instructer and very knowledgeable in anthro
I would recommend her to other students because she is very down to earth, understandable but at the same time a good teacher. She makes it easy for us to come to her with any concerns or questions. nope
I enjoyed my semester in anthropology and learned quite a lot about who we are as humans, where we came from and most importantly what our future is going to be like. We also learned a great deal about our environment and how important our symbiotic relationship is with it.

more out door learning!
Decrease the workload slightly. I felt that we had to read too many things too quickly, which made it hard to focus and absorb the info in the readings.
she is doing just fine.
Nothing much. Just trying to stick to the schedule instead of pushing the deadline.
I know it was her first semester so I cant complain about it really but it would be the changing of the syllabus quite often but i know that we have a heads up of this in the beginging.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
She would always find ways to help us out, and constantly asked if we had any questions about anything. Amidst our countless e-mails to her, she did write back to every one of them.

She asks questions in the class, group class work, and review the course material regularly.
She talked to students outside of class and quickly responded to emails.
beginning and end of the class, she always makes sure that no one falls behind.
Adjusting deadlines and requirements, emailing us reminders and upcoming agenda.
She is able to help with grammar.
She was always asking if anybody needed help and for any of those not doing to well in the class she would make sure to continually check with them about keeping up with work. She would also allow leeway with many students because she fully understands that we all have many other classes and different scheduals so things may be hard to handle all at once. She is very forgiving!
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
I would definitely recommend her to fellow students, because she teaches the subject very well.
Yes, she is very knowledgeable in her subject, keeps lectures interesting, and assigns creative projects that helped me better understand the material.
