13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
she's very kind and considerate of students
Very knowledgeable of the subject, but was also very open to accepting and discussing ideas brought up by students.
Passion for the subject material, and great understanding of it as well.
Ms. Nakama was straight forward from the beginning of class and that set a strong foundation of structure for the class. She was extremely organized, punctual and full of positive energy. She is very competent and passionate in her field of study. She made use of every minute of class. Her visual aids and resources online were very helpful.
She really knew Anthropology really well because she had achieved a master's degree. She encouraged us to learn more about the world around us and relate it to anthropology by giving us extra credit assignments from writing reaction papers on documentaries.
Her passion. Because she was so interested in her field, it made us more interested. I really like the way she taught because she made anthropology really interesting and relatable. Loved this class.
She is an expert in the subject and she has many stories and experiences that are relevant to the subjects we are learning.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
none
None.
Maybe cut back on some of the writing. I felt there was a lot of writing assignments, but it could have also been because I was already taking two WI classes along side this class.
maybe think about making the Service Learning (SL) Project mandatory since it is a S class....or at least ask the students that are not doing SL to do at least do 4 hours of some kind of Malama Aina...it is great experience.
I suggest trying to summarize the book in your classes since that it what the tests are going to be on instead of just telling us to read and showing us cutural presentions in class.
I feel like the projects were really hard and time consuming. As expected from a college course. However, I thought three big projects was a little overwhelming.
I don't think she should change anything about her class.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
she stayed as long as students needed help at her office hours
Was understanding of personal situations which may have proved some consequence to not turning in assignments. Was accepting of work past due, which shows preservation of learning and work ethic for students.
Allowed turning in of late assignments, made herself available after class, and through emails.
Ms. Nakama took the time to talk too students before and after class addressing any questions of concerns. She returns emails promptly. She kept us informed about the various workshops on campus that helped us with our assignments as well as our personal educational goals.
I have seen her try to work out a plan of success for students who were struggling which kind of set her apart and showed that she cared. She also showed real interest for everything that we turned in or presented in class.
She enlightened us on GMOs and global warming and how to prevent it. That helped me think more about my future and even my lifestyle.
She emailed students important announcements, had a plan B if something were to happen, and she made sure the students know what she wants from us.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
yes, she's very nice and very informative
Yes, her knowledge and course objectives were very well applied and is one of the few sustainability courses offered at this campus.
Yes she was a great teacher. Learned a lot, and enjoyed the class completely.
I highly recommend students to take her class if they want to get a feel of what a UHM class is like. At first I was worried I could not keep up with the assigned readings, however all the class lectures, resources, and group work helped grasp and retain the material.
come to class as much as possible and do all of the extra credit assignments. If you want to be more hands on do service learning but if you prefer ordinary class assignments do not bother.
Yes because she makes the material really easy to understand and you learn a lot.
Yes I would recommend Ms. Nakama to other students because she is well organized, nothing in this class is hard to do.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
Wish she was able to teach more classes
Thanks for waking up so early in the morning with us, I know it must have been rough having a class that seemed half awake. Really enjoyed the class.
Ms. Nakama is very professional and I appreciate the momentum of the class for there was never a dull moment. I like how she kept the standards high by encouraging us to use our critical thinking skills and expected our reflections to be written at college level. This expectation was intimidating at first, however I am more confident about my writing skills and am very pleased with what I learned about ANTH 151-S. I believe this is why students respected her and showed up regularly to class.
I am thankful to have had her as my Anthropology teacher and i learned so much!
Thank you for being my favorite class this semester!
18. Other comments:
I really learned a lot and I love everything about Ms. Nakama's class. One tip for those thinking of taking this class....if you need help just ask her...9 time out of 10 other students need the same help. I suggest that this class remain a "S" course for Ms. Nakama did an amazing of teaching us about sustainability. I am sure most of the class will never forget what we learned and that this is not something that we can put on the back burner. This issue is something that we as a community need to work if we want to keep Hawaii paradise.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
Materials were up-to-date. Learning materials and assigned projects were very interesting for students to engage.
She was very involved with the discussion board. This encouraged students to participate in class discussions and to learn from each other.
She had multiple ways to tell a similar story. We read things in the book and then she backed it up with PowerPoint or videos.
She is knowledgeable of the material and uses a variety of media to teach, which kept me engaged. She is flexible and worked with us on deadlines.
Very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Usually responded to questions promptly.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Maybe put all of the messages or comments from the instructor in the announcement thread instead of the discussion board? It was a little difficult to navigate when I wanted to go back and read the assignments, and particularly when I wanted to review the messages only from the instructor. I also found from other instructors that you can lock the discussion board once the deadline is passed so that we can no longer input new threads to old discussions. In this way we know that it's a done deal.
Responding to outside emails. Provide my announcements concerning tasks.
Fix your PDF file for the GMO Book. There was a lot of confusion on it and the page numbers (I checked both the PDF page number & the booklet number and things still didn't match up)

None.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
Very well. Was very accommodating and worked around our suggestions.
By providing advice to students through the discussion board.
She checked in with us periodically.
She changed the deadline schedule for work submission because many students worked and needed the flexibility to turn in assignments within a period of time versus specific dates to give them the ability to create a schedule that works for them.
Always pushed us to think more about a certain topic which made the course material more interesting.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
YES! If I had the time, I would have loved to participated in her traditional in-class course.
Yes. Overall, her class was very interesting and fun. She is highly involved in the class discussion and provides extra ideas for the class to discuss.
Yes. Great class. She made some of the dryer information more lively by conversations and videos.
Yes. She gets you to learn the material. She's fair and available for communications.
Yes, enjoyable class.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
I wish I can continue to take more of her classes.
Good professor. I never really knew much about Anthropology but this class has really peaked my interest to this topic, thank you!

18. Other comments:
I understand that this is her first time teaching a online class, but for most teachers who do, they don't cram all 16 weeks into 6 weeks. They cut out the less important parts. Also, there were too many 2 hour videos. Lastly, how can a teacher expect the students to complete the assignments so quickly? The original due date was about two-3 days after it was assigned, which was almost every weekday in the form of 2-3 hours of work. Only after a few students complained did she push it all to a Sunday due date. Some of the assignments weren't even opened on time. Students requested that all assignments be opened like most other online classes so that the students can finish their work early in case they don't have time later. If the students are expected to complete their work in a timely fashion, the same should be expected of the teacher. Most assignments and exams took 1-2 weeks to be graded.
Thank you for this wonderful learning experience.

Her style of teaching was fun. Learning new terms was easy because of her ability to break down information in a way that was easy to understand. Her classes included a lot of hands on activities which allowed the ideas to really sink into my head. She is open minded and willing to listen to new ideas. The information is always being updated in the anthropology world and she expressed how important it is to stay updated with new discoveries. Great person and teacher.

Second half of the course seemed less demanding or structured. I had more time on my hands and wanted to learn more.
N.A.
When students are talking, they should be told to stop talking or leave. There were too many times when some students were disruptive and nothing was done to stop them.
Do away with the Zoo field trip. It can be done at home.

Definitely. Although this isn't the kind of class where you can sit by and get an A, I recommend this class to everyone.
I would recomment to those that are good at writing in english because her course required students with high grade in english. I have english as a second language and it is very hard for me but I was able to survive that class because she gives chances for late work and plus she gives us opportunity for extra credit.
Absolutely. Jamie is incredible and I have learned so much from her. Her grace in the classroom is something to be admired. 13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
She's awesome. She's definitely a sweetheart teacher who is passionate about what she teaches and really cares about her students. She shows pretty interesting videos. I highly recommend her.
Jamie Nakama's strengths as a teacher was her ability to teach the material in a way that was clear and effective.
Knowledge and flexability
She can relate to the youth.
Ms. Nakama is very enthusiatic about the subject she is teaching. She cares about her student's and offers lots of opportunities to boost their grade should they choose to do so.
She keeps the class interesting.
She knows her information.
She's passionate about what she teaches and brings out the best in her students.
She knew her subject well. When asked a question she could explain it clearly.
She makes students participate in various projects which I think facilitated my understandings of the subject area.
connects to students
She is very well rounded and knows the subject very well. She does however encourage proper spelling and citation.
She is good at presenting the class material in different ways. It's not just powerpoints, lectures, and videos. She also included interactive things like one time a guest speaker came, we also had a day where it was like a demonstration of how our islands were made.
she really tries to help you improve in her class and learn as much as you can.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Use a different textbook, or give reading comprehension sheets.
Give the class a heads up when there will be quizzes.
Ms.Nakama's lectures could be more organized. She goes through her power point presentations way to fast and they don't always represent what we are reading about in our very expensive textbook.
None
Have a better study guide and less essays.
none
More hands on group projects.
Not sure if she can change this, but morning class sucks! I think if this class was later in the day, it would be better. But I can't think of any other changes right now. It's pretty good the way she teaches this class.
my only suggestion is no make a little later class, cause 7:45 is too early i think.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
Jamie showed concern for students by reminding everyone of the due dates of assignments, and answering any questions we students had.
many extra credit opportunities
She was always encouraging students to see her outside of class.
Ms. Nakama is always available for her student's. She provides a large amount of supplemental materialâ??videos, articles, journals etc., to complement the subject matter being discussed. She mixes things up in class, so student's have a chance to meet most of their classmates--which I think is awesome!
She always sends out notifications and emails for the subject.
N/A
She always encouraged participation and was very good at communicating with us what was going on in the class.
She sent emails regularly to remind students of deadlines and to give out useful information to students that they could use in their projects.
yes she always asked for input and allowed for any opinion to be heard
She would correct our papers for spelling errors, punctuation, and proper citation.
She has office hours and grades our reaction papers on time. It's good that she checks grammar even though it's not a writing intensive course, I think that I did a paper okay, but actually there was little mistakes here and there. She also let us do up to 5 points extra credit, this is good when we do bad on pop quizzes or other assignments.
she constantly used email to notify students of upcoming events, also she would talk one on one with you if you wanted too and tell you that you have to do.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes, because she provides a good atmosphere for learning and you will learn more material that can be applied out of class.
I would recommend her because she has a fair grading system.
I would recommend Ms. Nakama to other student's because she respects different learning styles--which allows each student the opportunity to shine in their own way.
Yes, She keeps the class interesting and fun.
It depends. If the student wants to be challenged then yes, but if not, do not take this class it's kind of hard.
Yes, because she makes the subject interesting and makes you think about things going on in the world. It was a fun and hands on class where I learned a lot.
Yes. Not too easy or challenging. She makes you think critically.
Yes I would recommend professor Nakama.
yes she is a nice teacher
Yes, because she is a very active teacher and grades quite fairly if one does the work. She may sometimes be hard to reach.
Yes, because she is very knowledgeable and makes it so that it is understandable. In the beginning of the semester there was a lot of reading, but there was also a lot of information, as opposed to the second half of the semester. She is also good because she gives a good study guide lecture the class before the midterm and exams, this is really helpful.
yes i would, because she is a great teacher. and her methods of teaching is great.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
Although my English is not perfect, I really enjoyed her class, I've learned a lot about human nature and I never knew I liked Anthropology.
Yes she is overall a wonderful person to learn from.
Best Anthropology teacher ever.
N/A
looks good too
Popcorn for the videos.
I like her, she is a nice, kind and cool professor. She could also pass for a student, but has a lot of knowledge and interesting information about anthropology. But not just anthropology but life in general too like agriculture, sustainability, and other cool information.
she's a really good teacher and works very hard for her students.
18. Other comments:
I love her.

Maybe if possible since this is anthropology, teach class outside. For example observe the enviroment from KCC's cactus garden to Hawaiian native plants.
Thank you for being a super, super awesome professor!! Wish I could take more classes with you teaching it one day! :)
she's the bomb and she's fun to be around.

She is also very understanding of her students as well. ++++++++
All around, she was a great teacher in every aspect of teaching. Very friendly and approachable. Understanding and patience with her students was most noticeable.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
Jamie is incredibly easy to approach and talk to. She has a very humble and effective way of explaining concepts and providing personal examples to aid in her presentation of the material and also to engage students. Jamie has a way with being able to make lessons in the classroom relate to the real world and encourages her students to be involved in the community. Jamie is incredibly intelligent and is able to know when and just how much to push students to improve in various areas.
She understands a great deal of the material and she is very involved with the community. She has contacts and guest speakers that she set up for us so that we could benefit from their presentations. She's also excellent at organizing visuals such as power point presentations and use of multimedia(movies/shortclips).
- Understanding about student work load. - Flexible on due dates and deadlines. - Offered many extra-credit opportunities.
Her passion for anthropology and her deep interest in making sure her students take home the most important aspect of anthropology, which is to remain open minded about all things.
knows her subject well and is willing to help students
Knows the subject well.
She knows her subject area really well.
she made class fun and made learning fun. her projects were fun and i really enjoyed her as a teacher.
She is super understanding & flexible, which shows how much she wants to see her students succeed:)
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Although Jamie challenges her students to be more critical, I have no suggestions for her. I really enjoyed her class and it was the first time in my educational career I was able to truly see my role in the community from a broader, but more meaningful perspective. Jamie is an incredible teacher and an invaluable member of our society and there is much to be learned from her.
I would have liked it if there were more homework--as ridiculous as it sounds. I feel that there were not enough to actually remind the students about the class. I personally prioritized Anthropology last because there were almost never homework. The homework would be the three projects but it wasn't much, in my opinion. Having more assignments means that if you miss one or two, it won't greatly affect your grade. Whereas, in the format that was carried out for this course, if you missed an assignment or reflection paper, it could very well mean that you've lost a whole letter grade on your overall grade. Perhaps using videos that are more readily available so that the students that missed some of the class wouldn't have to wait for whoever rented out the dvd out to return it. Because the videos you missed were most often very hard to find, it was very hard to make up the missed videos.
- Slow down on powerpoint slides or maybe not too wordy.
Organization of class. We have no time to present our projects that are a big part of our grade.
no changes
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
Jamie makes herself available to students and provides email communication throughout the semester to ensure everyone is on the same page with classroom goals, deadlines, changes in schedule, etc.. She encourages attendance at her office hours and makes herself open before and after class throughout the semester. Jamie goes out of her way to get to know her students and help them succeed in any way she can. She engages the classroom in discussions that encourage critical thinking and gives valuable feedback on papers and projects throughout the semester. I am a far better writer because of her feedback.
She frequently sent out reminder emails about projects and exam dates.
- She would extend the due dates to give us more time to work on other things.
She tried her best to respond to emails and she was very considerate of our time and the assignments we worked on. She post-poned deadlines to make sure we focused on important tasks, which made things a lot more do-able for us as students.
available during office hours or via email
Met with each student outside of class if needed.
She encouraged students to communicate with her if they have any questions or concerns, or anything unclear to them.
offered many videos for extra credit.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
I would absolutely recommend Jamie to anyone and everyone. She has left such a positive impact in the way I see my role in the community and the way I view my educational goals. I am much more of a well rounded person after taking one of her classes. She has inspired me to be more active in the community. Jamie is incredibly passionate about teaching and her respect and love for the environment is evident and radiates as a positive energy in her class.
I'm kind of 50/50 on this. If you want to be in a class where the Professor understands the material and has great ideas for you to personally execute the concepts you learn from your texts in real life, yes. If you're an academic student that's more of a studious type, then no. In Anthropology 200, students should be noted that they will be doing more projects that will be involving their participating with the community. Such as Service Learning and going on a field trip.
Of course, she's a great teacher. She makes us think and tells us about issues we should be concerned about. She teaches us to be skeptical and to always ask questions about a topic.
I would definitely recommend Jamie to other students because she understands the importance of covering all methods of learning for all her students. She is so diverse with her teaching by not only lecturing, but incorporating group work and videos into it. That's a great way to make the class fun and interesting.

Yes.the class was very worth it.
Yes. She knows her subject area and you'll definitely learn a lot from her.
yes! excellent teacher.
Definitely!..She is a great teacher!!:)
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
Jamie goes above and beyond her lesson plan to educate her students. She is approachable, professional, personable, and someone that I respect and even aspire to be. Jamie has many wonderful qualities that make her a great teacher. She shows genuine concern for her students' success. Her determination to be an educator in our community is apparent and I have learned many things from her that will help me succeed in my future endeavors. Kapiolani Community College is incredibly lucky to have her on their staff and part of a strong team of educators.
I like her positive energy she brings to class everyday and how she's enthusiastic.
Generous with extra-credit.
Thank you for teaching anthropology in a way that we could have hands on experience as well as book work learning. I was able to be more open minded about the things I would have never understood till now.
excellent teacher
Very nice teacher. Understanding and really into her students academic success.
she was the best teacher by far.
18. Other comments:
Professor Nakama is a great Professor and she has a great understanding of the material. By no means is her format inadequate, it's just that it's not designed for all types of students but let's get real, that's impossible to pull off in the first place. She does a great job at being a Professor in Anthropology, it's just that the class might not be something new students in Anthropology is used to. Let me reiterate, she is a GREAT Professor, it's just that class type is very different than your typical classes involving text research. It's a more hands-on class.
none.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
Makes the class interesting and makes it her own teaching ways. She is passionate about her teaching and makes her teaching her style and no one else's. she gives and gives to others.
She is very knowledgeable and very easy to understand. She kept a great atmosphere through out the entire course. She relates to all her students better than I have seen most teachers.
Awesome Teacher!
She has a local attribute to her that I really enjoy. She is very well organized and mindful to her subject.
Great teaching methods.
She's not lazy, she gives plenty of resources to further explain the subject matter. I like creative writing, I believe it inspires more thought, and understanding of the information being presented. I feel like I actually learned something in her class! I can't say the same for my other classes.
Friendly, knowledgeable, understanding...You can tell she cares about her subject matter.
Ms. Nakama was very easy to talk to and always connected to the students well.
Shes fairly young so she seemed like she could relate to the students well. She was realistic when it came to assingments and deadlines, since she was a student not too long ago. Shes also always happy and energetic. Always giggling! She seemed really passionate about her field, which is refreshing with teachers. Her instructions were clear and she always offered help outside of class.
Super cool and easy to feel comfortable around
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
no changes
I would make a class project where everyone brings in food item. These items need to be, what they believe to be, a unique way of saving the earth. Whether it be from the local markets/farmer's markets, self grown, homemade with all natural ingredients etc.
none.
I suggest she ask for a raise, because she's an awesome teacher!
Stop being so lenient with some of your students, strictly convey your expectations of a scholarly paper/project with an emphases on proper citations ONCE, then if they (citations) are not met...instant zero, no sweat off your back. Don't hand out extra time just because the bulk of students didn't meet the expectation. They all know they need to cite work, they are just taking advantage of it not being spelled out for them or simply being lazy...
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
Was very fair with test, quizzes, and finals. A very approachable person with a big heart for teaching.
She was very kind and energetic with everyones questions. She definetely did not make a student feel dumb, ever...
always willing to help in any way.
Jaime gave each student individual attention, and helped us to write better papers. She wanted us to get the course and help us to be better students.
Lots of understanding, willing to work with students, willing to go over subject matter that is not required by her course in order to improve a students learning experience and quality of work...(English...sigh).
She emailed us almost every week giving updates on students who missed class. This is very rare with college proffessors, since most just assume that its our responsibility and dont seem to care. She was always avaialable after class if you had any questions.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
YESSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
Yes, she's a great teacher if you wanted to learn the thinking, feeling, and evolution of human beings.
Yes. makes class interesting and fun to learn.
I already have, I tell all my friends in my other classes, Antho 151 is a great course to take.
Yes, she was a good, fair, knowledgeable teacher who presented her material in a clear, structured, and interesting way.
Yes. She had a variety of teaching methods and engaged students to want to learn more.
Yes. I loved her class.
She's really fun and there are alot of hands on things we got to do. so yes it was a great class
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
Jamie is a great teacher and is talented in everything. She has a big heart so she loves to give what she knows and shares herself with all of us. Is clear on what she wants and how she wants things. I love how she brought a guest speaker, watch movies, and makes us do projects.
Not about, but to. I know she travels a lot and I would like to say that it would be a pleasure to run into her in another country and totally get surprised. I say this because my wife and I travel a lot and even out of pure coincidence, I had traveled to the Maya civilization ruins (Yucatan Peninsula)...the project I had during this course.
GREAT CLASS! I wish I could take it again.
Genuinely a good person.
I think what ever your paying her it's not enough! She's an amaziingly good teacher! I'm considering switching my major to Anthropology.
She did extremely well considering the quality of most her students work...
18. Other comments:
thank you for everything
This course gave me a life changing feeling about many things, good and perhaps not so good, but I did learn many concepts which I will have to seriously marinade on...
Give her more classes, and I'll sign me up!
GOOD JOB! Keep up what you are doing becasue alot of students will appreciate your creativeness and energy!

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
She really connects with her students and she knows how to teach in a way that is fun while also being able to go over the class material with her great teaching methods.
She is very knowledgeable and very passionate about this subject.
She's enthusiastic about her subject.
she knew about anthropology and knew how to deliver information
- flexible schedule - gave students second chances to redeem themself (extra credit) - gives a variety of different learning styles (hands on, reading the textbook, ppts lectures)
Even though the things we learn in class were a lot harder than i expected, our teacher was great.
Nice, very kind, very very objective teaching style, pushed students to open minds and explore what is important in life!
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Nothing. It was excellent just the way it was.
none
Why does this class have to be only at 7:45 am? That's way too early and at least should give other time class choice to students.. Why only one class at that time?? WHY??? And maybe little too many videos in class.. I mean the videos are pretty interesting but i wish there was fewer videos and more lecture.
Maybe cut some of the book reading down.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
She would always encourage us to speak our minds and to bring intelligent discussions to the class. If there were things that we didn't quite understand she was always willing and happy to go back to go over anything in a more clear way.
she would give us things to think about from our point a view. Also I would say that after taking her class we become more open minded.
- answered questions - class discussion to make sure we understood the topic
She would answer questions, ask questions and take time after class for students.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
I would most definitely recommend Jamie to other students. She made anthropology a fun class while still teaching effectively and efficiently. If she taught any other of my required course classes I would pick her over any other teacher.
yes, because you earn alot and she makes it really fun to learn especially when the class is at 7:45am.
Yes, she is outgoing and knows her subject well.
yes, she is an easy going teacher that is passionate about her work. its always easy learning from someone who loves their job. plus, there's a lot of hands on learning.
Yeah as long as you can wake up that early.
Yes, she is a great person and a good teacher who cares.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
She is the kind of teacher that I wish other teachers were like.
YOU'RE AN AWESOME TEACHER!
Great person

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
Provided a good learning environment. Took time to hear out concerns
I learned. Didn't have any problems. No further comment.
A very good and understanding teacher.
Her power points were alwasy very resourceful; helps when there's a test coming up.
She's very down to Earth and extremely understanding. I really liked her as a teacher.
Very lienient to students
She is a super nice teacher that knows her material. I enjoy going to class bc the material is also very interesting.
She's full of energy and has great charisma. She was always smiling and was always in a great mood. Even if we didn't do something the right way she would allow us to try again. You want to drag yourself out of bed and go to her class at 7:45 in the morning!!! Not very many teachers have that talent! :) She also creates a great learning atmosphere and encourages you to learn more about anthropology.
Knew subject quite well so she was able to teach the important concepts to us in a precise, clear way. She was available for us students if we had any concerns or questions. Her teaching methods provided us a good learning environment.
she knows what she wants to teach and how to make it very clear to all of her students
Very polite and nice
everything
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
On projects, show examples of other projects that students might have done to clearly show what to do. It'll be nice after projects or exams, to find out how well we are doing in class overall.
well, I sometimes forget to turn in hard copies even if I had them done. I'm pretty sure that effected my grade.
I would say maybe making the curriculum a little clearer.
No suggestions, just get a different classroom with air condition. It was way too hot in class
I would suggest more group time after watching a video. Maybe make a game or something for us to throw opinions around before we do our reaction papers.
NONE
more time in class
none
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
Asked questions and asked for feedback.
She always emailed the students reminding them of upcoming due dates. I think she really wanted her students to succeed in the class and it definitely showed. That made all the difference and I really appreciate it when teachers show that they care about their students. I loved Jamie Nakama!
She would always be easy to contact through email. She also responded to emails very quickly
She was always available after class if you had questions, office hours or by e-mail. She always encouraged us to be prompt on our homework assignments to help better ourselves.
In class, she would constantly ask if we had any questions or if we didnt understand anything. She encouraged us to participate in discussions and she created a good atmosphere for learning about anthropology.
made sure every assignment was understood to all students she always told us to email for any questions
she always asked the class as a whole if they had any questions or concerns, she was very helpfull.
yes she is the best
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes I would recommend. She made students such as I who don't believe in evolution to have some fun in this class. The videos helped me understand a lot and projects.
yes. It was a good class that my friend recommended to me so I took it. I would recommend it to other students also.
Absolutely. The course wasn't too difficult but it was a great class. Jamie wanted the class to be fun and I believe it was.
Yes i would because she is a very good teacher. One of the best i've ever had at kcc
Definitely YES! For all of the above reasons!
I would recommend her to other students because she is very down to earth, understandable but at the same time a good teacher. She makes it easy for us to come to her with any concerns or questions. Her grading is also pretty fair and straight forward. The assignments are never too overwhelming and are doable with everything else going on in my schedule.
yes because shes a fun great teacher
yes. Shes a good instructer and very knowledgeable in anthro
yes
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
She is very down to earth, friendly, easy to talk to, very organized and teaching methods are a lot better than just lectures all the time and reading.
Very nice; easy to talk to and very helpful.
I hope you continue teaching and I hope you decide to teach more and other courses. You were awesome and I loved your class :)
Thank you for teaching me a lot. I've learned many things in this course
Thanks for making anthropology fun! I was honestly dreading this class, now I'm thankful I took it!
shes should get a promotion!
Very nice work and excellent job teaching!
she is awesome
18. Other comments:
I enjoyed my semester in anthropology and learned quite a lot about who we are as humans, where we came from and most importantly what our future is going to be like. We also learned a great deal about our environment and how important our symbiotic relationship is with it.

She is so happy and upbeat all the time. Always in a good mood and very forgiving. She interacts with all students all the time and allows students to do the same back.
Fairness, concern and interaction with students.
Knew here subject very well. Also very nice and easy to talk to.
She's a sexy mama!
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
n/a.
more out door learning!
she is doing just fine.
Nothing much. Just trying to stick to the schedule instead of pushing the deadline.
I know it was her first semester so I cant complain about it really but it would be the changing of the syllabus quite often but i know that we have a heads up of this in the beginging.
Decrease the workload slightly. I felt that we had to read too many things too quickly, which made it hard to focus and absorb the info in the readings.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
She asks questions in the class, group class work, and review the course material regularly.
She would always find ways to help us out, and constantly asked if we had any questions about anything. Amidst our countless e-mails to her, she did write back to every one of them.
email absent student and inform them abotu what went on in class.
beginning and end of the class, she always makes sure that no one falls behind.
She is able to help with grammar.
She was always asking if anybody needed help and for any of those not doing to well in the class she would make sure to continually check with them about keeping up with work. She would also allow leeway with many students because she fully understands that we all have many other classes and different scheduals so things may be hard to handle all at once. She is very forgiving!
Adjusting deadlines and requirements, emailing us reminders and upcoming agenda.
She talked to students outside of class and quickly responded to emails.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
