31. How did the instructor show concern for students?

| Azadeh is a very friendly and caring teacher who shows concern for students
in lots of little ways. She is always very willing to take questions, and is
clearly genuinely interested in making sure that her answers are adequate and
that the students understand her explanations. She has also been very
generous in preparing extra handouts and audio files which are a very helpful
additional reference source. |
| Azadeh made sure students were able to keep up. If a student needed extra
time on material, she adjusted the pace of instruction. She also made course
materials and supplementary materials available. |
| -She helped us review before the test by putting audio files and documents on laulima. |
| She helped us learn. One of the best teachers I've ever had! Can't wait for PERS102 |
| She is always prepared for class and enhances her students experience with a wide variety of
cultural activities such as her guided tour of Shangri-La or having a tea drinking ceremony in class,
to name a few. |

32. What did you especially like/dislike about the way the instructor taught this course?
|
| I liked that Azadeh regularly assigned homework and was also serious about
collecting and correcting it, but without putting a lot of pressure on
students. I also liked how each class was structured so that we had a variety
of activities and approaches to learning in each class. There was also a good
balance of language study (majority of class time) and cultural insight (just
enough to make the acquisition of language more meaningful). |
| Pacing. Inclusion of Persian culture, including pop culture, along with
language. |
| -The audio files helped me a lot. Also, the field trips was fun. |
| I liked how she started from basics, gave homework and tests, graded not too harshly nor too easily! |
| She designed the class to involve a good mixture of reading, writing and speaking practice. And
even though each of the students are at different levels, she engaged each of us equally. |

33. What else would you like to say about this instructor/course?
|
| Azadeh's very generous offer to give the class a tour of Shangri-La added a
wonderful dimension to the class experience - bringing to life aspects of the
Persian language and culture we had been studying very vividly. |
| Great course. Clear and understandable, not very hard to pick up the
material. |

| It is a great class. Especially for me trying to learn my native language. Should have more than this, and 102. Maybe 103? |
| I highly recommend it and look forward to taking the second part of the class next semester. |

34. Would you recommend this instructor to other students? Why or why not?
|
| Definitely. If anyone wanted to learn Persian I wouldn't hesitate to
recommend Azadeh. Although I believe it is her first time teaching Persian
language at the college level in the US, she is easily as effective as any
other language instructor I've had, and I've had 4 others in total, some of
whom have been teaching for decades! |
