13. What did you like best about the course?
assignments and projects were relevant to the course and material. instructor was knowledgeable and had personal experience in content.
Brian provided a wide variety of reading materials and videos to help me better understand assistive technology. I was able to complete assignments at my own pace, and assignments were easily submitted in our Dropbox.
I enjoyed the multisensory take on the class. I also appreciate how accessible Brian is. Although he was very orderly and tight on his due dates, I appreciated that he was trying to help me out as much as possible.
I loved this course! I think Brian was very informative and very inspiring. He showed so much knowledge and dedication while teaching this class.
I cannot choose one thing I liked best about this course because there are so many. I thought that the collaborations were going to be hard to do and it wasn't! I actually enjoyed this virtual classroom and learned a lot from my peers with their feedback. I really liked Brian as a professor because he was very knowledgable in the content, had such a welcoming and positive attitude, and communicated quickly, like I wish other professors would do. He took the time to see if we understood the content and went over it with us in the collaborations, I really liked that. I also liked that the short projects were engaging and fun and not just papers!
I liked that we had an opportunity to familiarize our selves with the knowledge needed in order to provide the best we can for students with disabilities.
The best thing about this class was that Brian was very knowledgeable about the content. He incorporated his life experiences which only helped us to connect and learn.
I enjoyed learning about topics and resources that could help me as a teacher. I appreciated learning about how to include students with disabilities into my classroom and how I can support my students.
I enjoyed the assignments that were given throughout this course. They were interesting, helpful, and engaging.
Topics covered were interesting and relatable to the classroom
The videos we had to watch! They were so inspirational and empowering. I loved watching the children and families working together and seeing their point of view. I also loved the short projects. They were really fun to do! I loved making my own storybooks and recording different voices.
All of the reading was very helpful throughout the entirety of the class providing great resources and information that can be used in the classroom.
I really liked the discussions on blackboard and all of the videos. The videos really helped me to gain a better understanding of assistive technology and how I might be able to use the different AT devices in my class.
I liked how the course work was divided up into two weeks. It was easier to plan for.
14. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
shorter collaborate sessions
Brian could improve the teaching of this course by making the collaborate sessions more informative. Though it was very interesting hearing everyone's points of view, I would have liked to hear more facts and personal experiences from Brian.

I can't think of any ways.
Brian did a great job teaching the course. Everything was well thought out and throughly explained. I'm not sure what there is to improve.
If he wants to improve his course he will make his rubrics for assignments completely solid and specific. His rubrics are general but when he grades assignments he is specific. Students get marked off for not being specific even though the rubric did not ask for those specific things.
N/A
I think the discussion posts were great way to help me reflect on what I read and viewed, however the due date (Friday) caused me to forget some of my reactions and take-aways because it was so far from the actual collaborate session. It wasn't a big though, it just took some getting used to. I just needed to review my notes before collaborate sessions.
Be more clear with due dates; some were really confusing
Maybe making more clear due dates? At the beginning of the course, I was really confused on when things were due and then the dates/times changed.
The lectures were a little long and it took a while for everyone to speak. Maybe lesson the. Amount of pictures. You show instead of having every student speak each time.
He could lessen the length of the collaborative session because sitting in front of a computer screen for two hours can hurt someone's vision. I guess we could take a break, but I did not want to miss my chance to speak if my picture came up. So there were technically no breaks during the two hour collaborative sessions.

Thank you for working with us.
I really enjoyed this course and Brian as an instructor. It was a great experience and I hope everyone gets to have him as an instructor.
I thoroughly enjoyed this class as I had learned much from Brian, I would not have minded taking this class as a semester long one as well because there is probably more that I can learn from it.
I really learned a lot about AT devices and can't wait to try to use some of the low tech and high tech devices in my class!
It was a quick and informative course. I learned a lot.

13. What did you like best about the course?
I loved the DIY activities that we learned to help us create things to use in our classroom for the future. I think the guest speakers were phenomenal, and I learned a lot through them as well.
I loved the hands on activities we did in class and all the guest speakers he brought into the classroom. I enjoyed attending every week. He was an excellent teacher
Brian was always prepared and had a fun and meaningful class/activity for us each week. The work that we did for the course taught me so much about the important part that technology plays an an individuals life I really enjoyed learning about the different types of technology and the real world examples of people that are positively effect by those technologies.
The course was easy to understand and I also liked how after doing the readings and postings every week; we would have a class discussion for a good portion on the class to hear more from our classmates.
Brian always brought a cheerful and supportive attitude to the class and made each class session enjoyable and informative.

I loved that this course revolved around real world experiences and accessibility. I loved that I was able to bring my home knowledge of assistive technology into conversation.
I really liked how organized everything was. I also liked how we did hands on activities and we were able to meet speakers after we read articles written by or about them.
I enjoyed learning all the new concepts that I can use in my future classroom.
I enjoyed the projects because it made learning fun since we got to express ourselves in a way of our choosing.
Brian truly cared about each and every one of his students. He was firm about his deadlines, but addressed issues that students were having in his class. I really like that his classes included meaningful and productive discussions, lectures, or activities and humor (the jokes of the week).
What I liked the most about this class was the different types of engaging projects that we were assigned to do. It was fun creative and also very informative and useful
I loved the jokes of the day, I would like to do that in my classroom one day. I loved Brians organization & structure of the classroom. He was always on time and efficent with our time in the class.
What I liked is that Brian brought in guest speakers that could help us learn more about the types of things we were learning in the reading and discussions. I learned a lot of things from those guest speakers and took into consideration a lot of what they had said.
The discussions were always really great, I loved hearing everyones opinions.
i liked doing a lot of hands on activities and having speakers
The hands on projects.
To me, the best part of this course is that we had chances to work on the DIY projects; those were extremely enjoyable and useful projects which enabled to learn to use technology create educational products.
We got to do a lot of hands on activities that were fun and participated in class discussions everyday.
I loved learning about AT from individuals who work with students with disabilities, as well as guest speakers who themselves have a disability. It means so much more and really resonates with me to hear guest speakers speak as opposed to simply reading from a book.
I had a situation where I couldn't come to classes on week days due to a schedule conflict. James Skouge meet with me every Saturday one on one so that I could get the credit and graduate. He is going to give my grade to Brian. This was so helpful. I couldn't be more grateful.
preparedness
the DIY projects
Guest speakers
The knowledge and experiences Brian brought into the classroom. It made the learning experience more authentic.
14. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
I can't really think of anything for Brian to improve on. He was an excellent teacher and I highly recoommend that anyone should take this class regardless if you are in the college of education or not.
I liked all aspects of the course, I don't see anything to change.
n/a
Brian could continue to bring outside guests from the community and tell stories in class. I think that assistive technology is about empathy and stories are one of the greatest ways to invoke that content.
I think he is doing a great job. I don't know what else he could do to improve this course.
I think that this class was ran very well and I do not know any way that it could be improved.
I have no critiques for the class, it's fine the way it is.
I have no advice, his class is great!
Having assignments due on Friday is really difficult due to field. While in field we are planning lessons with our mentor teachers, and it's hard taking time away from that to finish the homework. If we were given until Saturday or Sunday it would have been a lot more helpful.
open the assignment for a whole week rather than just a few days
Possibly give students a few more days to complete the laulima postings.
Brian did an amazing joy instructing this course. I honestly do not have any suggestions for improvement.

Thanks for a great semester, Professor Brian!

This course has been amazing and I have learned a ton. I can't wait to use the techniques in my classroom to assist all students.
I am so glad I was able to take this class with Brian. He is a great professor and I feel like I learned so much this semester. This has been one of the best classes I have taken at UH so far. Thanks for the awesome semester!
Great instructor, I enjoyed coming to this class. He set up such a postive environment.
Brian, thank you for taking the time I teach us what the best options are for when working with students with disabilities. I have learned so much from you and I feel a bit more prepared to go into the classroom now, and a bit more confident with my abilities.
Zeus Rocks!
:)
Brian was always very positive and willing to help!
Thank you!
This rating was for Dr. Skouge. However Brian was nice enough to let us do this under his blessing and name.

13. What did you like best about the course?
the content and modules and collaborative sessions
I benefited from learning about the different disabilities and the laws to protect and help people with disabilities.
I really enjoyed having an instructor whose life experience related to the subject area. The instructor was able to give us a first-hand account on the joys and trials of special education. Also, we were given a different perspective on what we were learning, which was a bonus!
There are a numerous of things like I liked best about this course but the things that really stood out to me what was that I really liked how Brian provided activities for us to do that related to each of the modules that we were working on each week. It was really interesting to find out what each child that has a disability may go through. And it was very interesting to watch the videos that we did it provided me with a lot of information that I will take with me in being a future educator
I thought it was very interesting and informative.
Our professor is such a motivational and inspiring person! He is the best person to teach this course. Brian is an example of someone who has a disability who has excelled in life due in part to his parents, teachers, additional support systems coupled with his own will and determination. He has given me new perspectives, great understanding, and inspires me to be a better teacher. Mahalo Nui Loa Brian!
I liked learning the course material. I thought it was very beneficial to learn about special education from someone who has worked and learned in the special education programs.
I enjoyed the course material. I feel that this course helped better prepare me to serve my students who have disabilities and make them feel like a contributing part of the classroom.
I loved this course! This was my first time taking a SPED class and it was an amazingly fulfilling experience for me. I usually have a really difficult time with online classes. In the past I have had a hard time keeping up and remembering to due dates. From the very first class I knew this wasn't going to be a problem. Brian explained the course thoroughly and provided us with detailed information about the semester schedule, when things were due, what was expected every week and what the course would entail. Brian was ALWAYS available to us whenever we needed him and always responded to emails instantly on the same day. His punctuality is admirable and something i have never experience with any of my other teachers. Brian was very kind, caring, encouraging and always willing to help at any time. I enjoyed the collaboration sessions where we could see Brian and interact more personally and with other class member. All of the work we submitted was always graded very promptly and submitted back with really thoughtful and helpful feedback. I really appreciate the effort and time Brian took to provide his wonderful feedback, it really contributed to my learning in the class. I also would like to mention that my favorite aspect of this class was Brians ability to connect and relate to us always. He is a very talented teacher in many ways and he has really inspired me to stay motivated with my education and keep moving forward. I loved how Brian was so open with us and willing to discuss his personal experience as an individual with a disability. Brian's first hand experience with disabilities really made the learning experience better because it felt more "real". I feel inspired to further my education on SPED and i hope that I will be lucky enough to have Brian as my teacher again in the future. So, thank you Brian for such an awesome semester in your class. I really appreciate the wonderful learning experience that I was so lucky to have with you. You are a fantastic teacher and you should be so proud!!
I liked the content of the course. There was a lot of lessons that introduced topics that I had heard or somewhat known about before, but Brian Kajiyama did an excellent job at furthering my knowledge in those topics.
It was manageable, he broke it up into nice sections so it was not overwhelming
The expectations and deadlines for the course were very clear and organized. Having assignments due on the same day of the week consistently made it easy to remember. Mr. Kajiyama is enthusiastic and encouraging. The videos and readings for the course were interesting and a pleasure to read. I learned things from the videos that I can apply to my everyday life. Mr. Kajiyama responds to questions quickly and is available to help if we need it.
I really liked the cool collaborative sessions because we could interact with the while class, along with the teacher. I also found a lot of interest in the weekly activities.
His teaching method was really good and all the things I learned was very interesting.
14. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
I thought it was good how it is
Just keep on doing what he is doing.
I loved the course just exactly as it was.
His style of teach was excellent wouldn't change anything
Doesn't need improvement
I believe he did an amazing job.
.
I felt like everything was fair and well communicated.
I have really thought hard on this question but I honestly can't think of anything that Brian could do or have done differently. I guess the only thing that I can think of is that I wish this class could have been offered in class instead of online. Only because it would allow more interaction. Other than that, Brian has got his teaching pretty perfected if you ask me :)
I think overall, Brian is doing a great job with this course and I really don't know what I would have him improve on. I think his communication with his students me especially has been great. He really wants his students do succeed.
I felt Brian tackled the course very well.

Brian is extremely patient and understanding, he is an excellent teacher. One of the very few instructors I feel confident and comfortable asking for help and sometimes repeatedly, in doing so he has helped my academic journey go much smoother and has change my perspective of people with disabilities. We need more instructors like him especially one that is passionate teaching and sensitive to ones needs. Having several learning disabilities he has helped me feel a little more comfortable and offered lots of encouragement. There is not enough words to tell Brian how thankful and appreciative I am for all his support, guidance and importantly patience. Thanks Brian, Val Kekahuna
Thank you, Brian for giving me an opportunity to change the way I viewed people with special needs. Continue to aim high and inspire others so they, too, can lead a changed life. God bless.
I really enjoyed taking this course it was a lot of fun and very informal. Thank you!
The weekly comments on each forum post isn't very effective. People don't really have conversations about the material, they just write stuff to get the grade. I think it would be more effective if the writer of the forum had to go back and comment on a post made on their forum so there was actual dialog and communication happening between students.
Thanks for a great semester. I learned so much!
I think Brian Kajiyama is such an inspiration and an amazing instructor on top of that.

13. What did you like best about the course?
Teacher was very knowledgable and the subject matter was interesting.
Even if this was an online course, I like that we had the opportunity to have the blackboard collaborations. I like that our work is not only based on the chapters the book. He provides videos which are informational and activities to understand the material better.
The subject matter was incredibly interesting!!
I like the weekly module assignment. The activities and videos are so helpful. oh and the notecards are so helpful!!!!
The videos gave me a really clear understanding of the context, and this class was so organized and easy to keep up with because of great communication and teaching techniques. Responses to our peers, and instructor were very helpful and the provided flash cards played a really important role in my education experience.
The course topics and lessons were really insightful. The book was very informative. I've learned lessons and answered my own life questions.
14. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
N/A
No room for improvement, keep it up!!!! :)
Keep doing what he's doing. :) very effective
Nothing, this was one of my favorite classes I've ever taken!!
He can try and use skybridge!

Great class!
Brian is very understanding and very helpful. If you ask him a question, he responds back pretty quick. He explains things very clearly. Everything on Laulima is really organized so you're able to look for things easily. He inputs your scores in your grade book every week, so you have an idea of what grade you're getting so far. I enjoyed taking this class. I learned a lot of things that I was unaware of and didn't know about. Thank you for a great semester!
I love this class! I learned so much from my instructor, my classmates and all the videos and activities! :D
Brian Kajiyama honestly inspired my to be a better person, go after my dreams, and helped me realize no goal is ever too big!! I feel lucky to have been taught by such a amazing instructor and i hope to inspire students with my wisdom and experience like Brian has done for me! Thank you for a wonderful semester!

13. What did you like best about the course?
I really enjoyed learning about the different tools and technologies I could use to help my students with disabilities.
assignments were purposeful and have quality application for future use challenging but interesting time was well spent useful information a really great class overall
The topics we read about, learned and watched, all were very informational. I also liked the online activities he had us create at face to face classes, which also helped to build team work.
the hands on assignments and and face to face activities--those teach far more than reading.
The best part about this course was truly Brian. He is an amazing instructor and really made me more interested in Assistive Technology, so much so that I have decided to pursue graduate school after I achieve my BA degree. I will be doing my masters in Educational Technology.
What I liked best about this course was our instructor, Brian Kajiyama. He has a way of making learning fun. I appreciated learning about technology and how important it is to incorporate technology into my own classroom.
I enjoyed the weekly face to face collaborations.
I thought that the course itself was very interesting and I enjoyed all our creative engaging assignments.
How Brian delivered the content, giving us articles and personal stories rather than only textbook readings.
I liked that this course really informed me about using assistive technologies. I had no idea what they were and what they consisted of before this course. I have learned so much and have a gained a greater appreciation for all of the technologies that are provided for students.
Course was well organized and very interactive Face-to-Face sessions.
I liked the projects that we had to do it was relevant to our class and accomplished course goals.
Being introduced to new technologies and skills that we can apply in various situations was fantastic.
14. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
Throughout the beginning of the semester, it took me a while to get use to where everything was. For instance, I realized that questions for the discussion was posted someplace other than the "assignment" section where something was described there also. I would suggest to place questions and assignments for the week all in one place, so future students don't get confused or don't miss out on anything.
he did a great job. i am not just saying that because i don't know what to say or because i feel neutral but he truly did a remarkable job. he was so on top of everything, activities were engaging, and time was well utilized. i was very impressed by him as an educator. it is rare to have teachers so in control yet so relaxed. i would be pleased to take other classes from brian.
It seems as if there was a LOT of writing for this course that was due each week. Having to answer 4 plus questions in their entirety would call for far more than 500 words. Also, adding on to that, the 100 word response we needed to supply to one person each week. If that is the case, this course should be labeled as Writing Intensive and we should get a Writing Intensive credit as well. Also, if there were major projects due, it would have been nice to not also have to keep up with the monthly reading, posting and replying too. The course required hours each week, compared to the other courses we needed to take in this program.
be sure to review every detail of the syllabus and assignment calendar before starting the term to be sure book titles, page numbers, due dates, etc are correct because they may be different from the previous semester or there could be an error.
I think everything about this course was awesome.
None, I really enjoyed being in his class. He is very organized and punctual. He gives immediate and constructive feedbacks in all of our assignments!
Maybe a little less homework. It was hard to keep up with our other classes.
Maybe a little less readings per week. Sometimes it was overwhelming.
The way Brian has designed the course is already great, but I think one way he could relieve stress of students is by shortening the readings or the posts we have to do. Since the course is only during the summer, the amount of information we have to learn is condense into a few weeks shorter than a regular semester. The amount of reading we had to do for this course and our three other courses was a lot and very stressful.
He does a really good job. There were many things that I learned through his class, especially things pertaining to technology and assistive technologies.
You are so passionate, articulate and supportive. I don't think there is any improvement needed - I do think you should have this course designated as writing intensive as I am sure we generated enough writing to meet the requirement. There was a lot of information to share and comment on so it was difficult to shorten responses and address the questions asked each week.

Brian, you are a true inspiration to all and continue to do the things you do.
Please label this class as a Writing Intensive designation, because it really is one.
I really enjoyed having Brian as an instructor and I think that every education student will benefit greatly from having him as an instructor.
Brian Kajiyama is by far, one of the best instructors I've ever had. I am so thankful for his class.
Brian is an EXCELLENT professor and I feel so grateful to have been in his class! He is very inspirational as a person and most importantly as a teacher! I would love to take more courses with him when I have the opportunity to do so. Mahalo Brian for a wonderful Summer semester! I look forward to seeing you again!! Aloha!
Thank you for a great summer semester. I feel I have learned so much!
Just want to thank Mr. Brian Kajiyama for his time and dedication to his work.

15. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
-Less reflecting on each others' responses. Brian can teach more about HOW we can incorporate assistive technology in our elementary classrooms and about other kinds of assistive technology available and easily accessible for educators and students. I felt the collaborate sessions were a waste of time and could have been put to better use. -Less of Dr. Skouge's articles. -Make sure due dates and assignment requirements are accurate and stated correctly in laulima and on the syllabus. -If you don't accept late work than students shouldn't be able to make up collaborate sessions.
The only thing that I thought could be improved a little bit was the weekly colloborate sessions. I think reflecting about what we already reflected on was a little too much. I think if there was something more beneficial to discuss, thsn once a week meetings would be OK.
It can't be improved because the course was very well structured and scaffolded for our maximum learning! LOVED every moment of the course!
Knowing this was a summer intensive course - Brian could have lowered his workload expectations just a little. When there were 5 topics including readings, videos or questions in forums it would have been nice to be able to concentrate on three rather then each of us putting in a 1/2 hearten effort on 5 topics.
I feel that Brian did an amazing job teaching SPED 480 this past semester. I have gained so much knowledge in this short summer semester and I really appreciated his clear outline on the course. I can't find a single thing that needs improving.
Less meeting on collaborate although the sessions were great and we learned a lot it was a lot to keep up with on top of the rest of the program work load.
Laulima had "old" assignments from a previous course, thus if a student was ahead of the game and accessing these assignments it led to confusion and mixed dates, tweaked questions. Overall they were the same assignments, but the newer version had more precise directions on how to answer. Ref: Midterm (questions similar but worded differently) and Final presentation (conflict in 3 pages vs. 5-8 pages). There was, on several occasions, date conflicts as well. Starting fresh on Laulima and posting accurate assignments ahead of time could help avoid these situations. Although, I must say the assignments were challenging and thought provoking in a very good way.
More specific instructions...other than that, it was an AWESOME course!
Brian could use less emphasis on the points made in the course by other students, I think there were a lot of comments that were common knowledge or common feelings, but we spent a lot of time discussing them.
It would be helpful if all the directions, reflection questions and resources for reading reflections were in one location. On-line class time management and student attention might be improved if a limit is put to how many people can respond to discussion topics. Sometimes I get tired of hearing what others have to say. I'd rather hear what the teacher has to say
I think Brian is a wonderful teacher. Even though I would like to say he should let us turn in at least ONE assignment late or make an exception from time to time, I am glad he is strict about his policy. It taught me that sometimes you only get ONE chance to do something right...actually that would be exactly how it is in most cases. He taught me that I need to be better prepared and more on top of things, especially when it comes to meeting deadlines.
Possibly having less reading material, and not having to respond to a peer in laulima, and then having to respond to someone again during Collaborate sessions.
Double check dates and requirements under assignments and on the syllabus
I think that collaborate every week, posting, and projects in one week were overwhelming. I didn't agree with having collaborate every week to discuss what we wrote in the previous week because if classmates wanted to hear what we said, then they should read the posting. Posting every week are okay, but let the students choose what to say, and don't make them have a minimal requirement, especially when responding to someone else. I also think that responding to someone is pointless. The projects were fun, but don't have postings in the same week because a 2 page reflection is required.
Minimize the length of reflection post. Stay on topic. Reconsider schedule for reading posting, reflecting on classmates and collaborate. Collaborate discussion occurs too long after required reading discussed. Discuss the topic before moving on to the next assignment.
I understand that this course was taught during summer session, which meant more condensed than regular semester. Although I enjoyed our weekly collaborate session, I felt that I needed to adjust my schedule more in order to attend the collaborate. He could have collaborate session every other week, instead of every week, he was to teach summer session again.
I feel that some of the writing components for the course could be slightly reduced in the required size, particularly the peer responses in forums.
I think that Brain has a great course. He is an amazing instructor. He doesn't need to make any improvements to this coarse.
He might edit his assignments and syllabus so that there are no differences between them. For example assignments on laulima may say 2 page responses, while the syllabus might differ.
For the connection between forum posts and weekly Collaborate meetings, I would have preferred to have meetings about the next week's readings as opposed to the previous week's: a preview session as opposed to a review session. The weekly readings and forum posts are already designed to be reviews, so this feels to me like we are reviewing reviews, which gets redundant. I guess it does guarantee that everyone actually reads or is exposed to the group's messages, however (whereas they could skim if left to their own devices).
16. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?
His experience and challenges he faced through out his life.
I think the course textbook was very useful and interesting. Brian's knowledge of people who actually use these tools made the classes very interesting. All of the guest speakers brought wonderful information and examples that really helped me learn and retain the information that I learned.
His responsiveness and weekly updates and reminders.
Brian was always available to answer questions and was quick to respond to correspondence, which is key for a course with a distance learning component. The supplemental readings and videos that were provided paired well with the text to give a comprehensive look at the subject. Brian also had us work on projects that had practical application and integrated the ideas that were being taught.
While there was so much information - I enjoyed the variety of reading to video to guest speakers.
Things that I found valuable and helpful about Brian would definitely be his break down of the semester. He gave us a set of assignments and stuck with it. I appreciated that he made his work due on the same day and at the same time throughout the semester, it made it very helpful for us. Brian was always organized with his teaching and I really appreciated him grading and providing feedback on our assignments in a timely matter. I know that Brian enjoys what he is doing and that helped us students engage in his teachings. Brian also always made himself available to assist us in any questions or concerns that we had throughout the course. He made this SPED course extremely enjoyable!
His first hand knowledge of the material and tools we learned bout in his class!!! he was truly an expert in the field of study! he taught us lots of things that we can use on our classrooms in the future.
Brian is by far one of the most compassionate professors I have ever had. His time and energy that went into presenting the material created an unforgettable learning experience that opened my eyes to the abilities of all students. I will take what I have learned both to the classroom and beyond into my own personal life. I am extremely grateful for all that I have learned in this class.
Real-life examples, freedom of communication between all in the classroom
Brian made us do and experience all of the methods that he encouraged us to use.
The many guest speakers and hands on activities were inspiring, enlightening, memorable, useful and easy yet challenging at times. The pace of the assignments were manageable. Amount of writing was doable yet meaningful. Text and other resources were useful and easy to read or view
I found it helpful that Brian is able to share his personal experiences with us as a tool for learning. To have a teacher that uses Assistive Technology is inspiring, it helped me realize a lot about a persons potential, especially when given the right tools for success. He is very organized, to the point, ANS I LOVE HIS SENSE OF HUMOR!! Thanks for telling us jokes, Brian. Other classmates and I discussed the fact that this has been one of the most meaningful and influential classes in our entire college career. You are a really good quality teacher....thank you for modeling that for us.
He is always willing to help. He offers quick responses to email questions. Very knowledgeable and always extensively prepared to class.
I think that because Brian is a living example of the course he is teaching, it makes the course that much more enjoyable and meaningful.
He was always willing to help students and very good about getting back to us in a timely manner.
The most valuable and helpful about Brian is that he has so much knowledge to offer and is willing to share it with students.
His enthusiasm for his subject.
Brain is awesome. I can truly say that his class was the most exciting and meaningful class I have ever taken. He knows his materials, and is very positive in every aspect. The most valuable and helpful about Brian is that he is there to help you every step of the way. I sent him emails multiple times to ask questions about projects, and he would always get back to me with very detailed explanation to it.
Brian's candidness was wonderful and refreshing. I also appreciated how humor he interjects into his presentations.
I loved listen to Brian's story. I also think that all of his guest speakers were very valuable and inspiring.
I think Brian is a great teacher. It was great learning about the material in this class from someone who has a lot of insight on what he is teaching. Being that Brian has dealt with a lot of the issues and technology that this class teaches us about makes his teaching a lot more meaningful and interesting!
His character is excellent. I think that he is probably the perfect person to teach this specific class. I would love to learn more with him in other classes as well.
Personal investment. It is clear and obvious that Brian cares very much about what he's teaching (and as a user of assistive technology, he has every reason in the world to care). A lifetime of personal involvement with assistive technology, building connections, and research on the matter has made Brian uniquely qualified to deal with the assistive technology needs of others, and how to approach people with such needs. Brian is also very proactive, with all of his lessons and resources planned and created in advance of the lesson, even though he has only three days to prepare each lesson (from Saturday to Tuesday, when the lesson in separate forms is taught to each group). He is also rather kind and personable, and is more than willing and happy to help with any concerns and questions the students have.

23. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
-Guest speakers -Learning about assistive technology available.
The guest speakers and the videos that we watched. I also liked the different personal stories that we read and heard. I liked the hands on work with different software programs and at our last F2F making switches.
The readings and videos were by far the best things this semester. I learned a lot from the reading and by the videos which were relevant.
I liked the projects that were assigned. Brian assigned projects that integrated the course material and released the details of the projects only once we had covered the information that we needed in order to successfully complete the projects that had practical application for classroom use. Also Brian invited guest speakers to come and speak to our class during our face-to-face sessions that exposed us even more to the course material and demonstrated AT techniques that we can now use as future teachers to enrich our students' lives.
group collaboration on how to video. Use of technology in the assignments.
I really enjoyed Brians short projects. I feel by participating in these short projects it really helped me to develop knowledge on different technologies I can use in my future classroom.
the mini projects, we learned about things that we can have our students do in the classroom to help themselves.
I enjoyed all the personal stories and guest speakers. This really brought out the reality.
I enjoyed the projects that we were able to experience through different mediums.
I enjoyed the guest speakers and playing with technology.
Thant everything was well organized, thoroughly explained, and the expectations of us were spelled out very clearly.
I enjoyed how Brian shared personal stories of children/adults with disabilities, so we could learn about the personal effect a disability has on a person. I also enjoyed how every week we focused on a specific topic of discussion.
I really enjoyed learning about the different forms of technology that can be used to assist people with disabilities.
I liked that Brian brought in the aspect of knowing what it is like to have a disability. I also enjoyed all of the guest speakers!!!
The projects were the best because they were engaging and can be used in the classroom.
Creating digital story books.
Hands on projects and guest speakers.
I really enjoyed doing projects throughout his class. They were something meaningful because I chose a topic to focus on. And I also became more familiar and confident with using technologies (google docs, powerpoints, iMovie, etc).
I loved the guest speakers and projects during the F2F weekends and the projects throughout the course.
Loved e guest speakers and projects.
-The different assistive technology we learned about. -The different personal accounts we had from guest speakers.
I truly enjoyed the project assignments.
The short projects are all very related to the course material, and allow us to effectively apply the things we are being taught in the class. The short projects also increase rather smoothly in complexity, incorporating multiple forms of media separately until the final lesson, which incorporates all of the forms taught previously in the semester.
24. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
-Reflecting on each others' posts. -His dates and requirements very different in Laulima and in the syllabus. -I felt the collaborate sessions were a waste of time and could have been put to better use. For example, Learning more about technology and how to use it in our classrooms.
Reflecting and then reflecting on reflecting.
N/A
Too much reading.
I didn't care for collaborating each week. I understand the importance of it and it useful but it's just hard to take more time out of our already hectic schedules to meet up each week.
I cant think of anything besides the frequency of the collaborate sessions.
The mid-term...didn't like that it had two versions out there. I wish I had received the "updated version". But I also should have been more careful at reading.
I didn't like that the rubrics didn't match the syllabus.
Collaborate sessions were tedious at times. The comments of classmates got wearisome.
Chapter reading, but even those were very interesting.
The reading responses.
I didn't like how we spent so much time reflecting on what others said during our collaborate sessions. It always seemed like we rushed through the "lesson" part at the end. I suggest doing less reflections if a lot of people are talking.
I didn't like collaborate every week, I didn't like responding to someones post, and I didn't like writing a reflection for the project. If I had to choose one thing I would say collaborate every week was the least thing I liked about the course.
Posting reflections and responding to peers.
I would say that reflecting was my least favorite thing in this course. I'm not saying that what he asked to reflect was meaningless, however, the amount of reflections I've done throughout other classes this summer, I became hesitant to reflect.
Even though I did get something out of each Collaborate session, it was a very big commitment of my time.
I didn't enjoy responding to my peers posts.
Some of the text book readings could be described as "dry"
I'm not good with deadlines, and they are rarely friendly to me, so I suppose my first vote, by default, has to go with that. This is something that I am still working on myself, however. I would have liked for the groups to change at some point in the semester, so that we could spend our weekly discussions getting input from more than just our half of the class (or that we could have reviewed the forum material from the other half of the class).

Please make sure due dates and assignment requirements match!!!
This was an excellant class that opened up my eyes to things I had not thought of before. I hope I get the chance to use the things that I have learned in the classroom setting some day.
Brian should be given a pay raise for his excellent teaching :) He has been the best teacher for me thus far into the statewide Elementary Ed. cohort 507! PAY RAISE!!!
Of all of the SPED, ITE, EDEP, and EDEF classes that we have had to take for the distance learning cohort in order to earn our BeDs, I got the most out of Brian's class. Brian taught us key information and emphasized classroom application of course knowledge, which I think is extremely important. He challenged us all to open our minds and really reflect about the course material. Without Brian's instruction I do not think that we would have gotten as much out of the class. Brian made the class.
Can't wait to call him Dr. Kajiyama!
Throughout this course Brian worked hard to introduce us to material that he knows will be helpful in our futures, and I appreciate him for that. I also appreciate him taking the time to organize guest sppeakers to come in and share knowledge with us, those were always interesting.
HE is an amazing teacher, person and i leared more from him and what he taught us that any other classs in this program and it is because of how he teaches!!!! reading a textbook only gets you so far, he took his class so much further!
This course really opened my eyes. Thank you Brian!
great class! life-changing experience for all of us!
Thank you! You have touched all of our hearts, and affected us all emotionally and intellectually. You also helped me to believe more in MYSELF. Aloha!
I will miss his class. I wish we could take this class during our regular semester. He has so much to offer, and is so inspiring. I learned to be more positive, and not grumble over small things in life, because Brian's attitude in his life is so positive, when he is faced with unimaginable challenges. I really enjoyed all the guest speakers that he presented during the course as well because they were the real people with experiences. Dr. Skouge and Dr. Kavita were so informational, they taught us very useful learning strategies. Gensen was so funny and inspiring. I felt lucky to take this course and meet these incredible people who are the advocates for individuals with disabilities.
Brian is amazing and a great instructor. I've learned so much this semester and I can't wait to put my new knowledge to work.
Brian, I have found you to be highly intelligent. You have challenged me more than any other professor. Thank you for that. Your class has helped me to see that I would really like to focus on SPED..
It was a pleasure and an honor to work with you, Brian! Have a lovely end of your summer!

15. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
Brian Kajiyama is a wonderful professor. There is nothing that he needs to improve on. I learned so much from him and my fellow classmates. He also made each class worth being there and the time would always pass by so fast. He also made each assignment worth doing and it was fun and enjoyable.

Thank you, Brian, for a wonderful semester. I have had a difficult time this semester in general, but really appreciated that you took the time to talk with me about how I was doing throughout our time together, and made yourself available not only as my professor, but as a confidant. This showed me that you truly care for my well-being, and made me feel that you want me to succeed, and were more than happy to help me do so. Thank you =)
I feel that Brian has created and carried out a well-rounded course. I dont think there is any way of improving such a wonderful and inspiring course other than making it available to all students at UH instead of just education majors.
The only thing that I would suggest is when we are doing the reflections, have the personal reflection due on the Friday and the response due on the Sunday. That way it will get people to do it earlier so that we can comment and not have to wait till Sunday to respond to a friends reflection.
16. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?
He was always willing to help us if we needed it. He was just so open to all of our discussions.
Brian puts his whole heart into every lesson plan he makes for this class. The projects and readings were fun, interesting and very relevant to the course material. Brian has great insight and personal experience that is also relevant to this course.
Brian is very knowledgeable and helpful and taught me a lot this semester. He set high expectations for us, but guided us in great discussions and helped us out along the way.
He is a very caring person, and there is no way to see otherwise. He cares for the well-being of his students not only in regards to his class, but in general. This is not always the case with professors, and I was very touched this. He went above and beyond his calls of duty, and with his continued belief in me and my potential, and his unwavering support and readiness to help in any situation possible, I felt that comfortable opening up to him, which made my educational experience this semester much brighter.
Brian was one of the most caring and on-top-of-it teacher I've ever had in all my years of schooling. He exemplifes all the Teacher Performance Standards.
I found the most valuable about Brian was his own personal experience and knowledge he has with the subject matter and how much he cares about his students and their learning experience.
Everything!

The projects and the guest speakers. Brian worked very hard to have an array of guest speakers for this class- it was AWESOME!
I loved our Do it Yourself projects and all of the awesome guest speakers that came to see us.
Great guest speakers-- relevant and well thought out. We were given many opportunities to hear the perspectives of others, which provided us with a wider understanding of the course.
I loved hearing from guest speakers and the projects we did were engaging.
I liked everything about this course from the guest speakers to the DIY projects along with the jokes of the week and our group discussions.

14. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?
He is very willing to work with students when they are having difficulties. He is very understanding as well.
He always emailed the class about any upcoming assignments and always left feedback after grading assignments. He was very organized!
Brian Kajiyama is a great teacher. He knows course information well. Brain is and accommodating and understanding. He is the most inspirational teacher I've ever had. I feel that it is highly beneficial to have him as a teacher.
He was very knowledgeable about this course and passionate about his work.
Doing projects that will allow educators to use in their classrooms in applying technology into the classroom curriculum.
Brian sends out a lot of e-mails and it's so helpful because he makes sure that we all understand what is to be due and when exactly. With online classes, it's so hard to keep up with what's due and Brian is so organized with everything and he makes it easy for me to keep track of what's coming up.
The discussions.
His feedback of our projects and responses
What I found to be most valuable and helpful about Brian Kajiyama was how he just was as a teacher overall. He was very understanding, always on top of things, always offering help, and overall very inspiring.
He was very willing to help his students in whatever way he could. I had first had experience that were very helpful and interesting.
He is optimistic and enthusiastic about teaching this course. I found this attitude most valuable and helpful because this had had a positive influence on our learning.
His caring and understanding nature, and willingness to help others.

21. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
The short projects were fun and good ways to apply our knowledge and skills for the course.
audio books
I liked the projects, they were fun to do but gave an insight to how we could use technology to help students with disabilities.
Utilizing technology..
Using the discussion feature on Laulima and having 2 different sessions within 1 class (small class size)
The short projects.
Using laulima.
I loved everything about this course. I really enjoyed the videos such as Sam's story, and Brian's story etc. And I really liked doing the short projects.
I enjoyed watching the videos and learning about the different kinds of assisstive technology. I liked being able to see technology in action.
Generally, I don't like projects but I like doing projects for this course because those projects were interesting and related to the course materials we learned in class.
The short projects were fun! I believe they are great resources to have as a teacher, and can be modified for all different types of students.
22. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
Nothing.
Some group presentations weren't as helpful/ interesting as others. I sometimes felt as if they were leading a game of 21 questions instead of presenting the weeks chapter/discussion readings.
Some projects were challenging because of my lack of knowledge of technology.
duration of class
The discussion posting.
Two and a half hours of video conferences a week.
There wasn't anything that I didn't like.
No.
The elluminate sessions, because I do not particularly like being put on the spot to talk/ share my thoughts. I am the type of person that likes to prepare for my answers ahead of time, so I have an idea what I might say.

15. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
I don't think Brian needs to improve on teaching this course.
Professor Kajiyama is an awesome professor. I would recommend his class to anybody. I myself am not a big fan of textbook readings... perhaps instead of assigning textbook readings, he could make a powerpoint of the the main points from the readings to present in class. That's just me though! I'm trying to get out of reading textbooks, but I still think this would be a more interesting way for everybody to learn from the textbooks.
Brian Kajiyama is doing everything perfectly. I feel that he should not change anything.
I think the course went well. There were often quiet spells because I think students didn't know when to speak. If he had persisted on us speaking or stopped and refused to move on until we comment on each other's comments, then we may have discussed more.
I think everything he does is good. I enjoy his teaching style.
It would be great to have more guest speakers!
I can not think of any ways he can improve at the moment because all in all he did a great job!
I liked the videos and guest speakers he brought to class. Hearing real stories is both informational and entertaining!
Continue doing what he is doing!
I think overall Brian did I great job this semester and I really enjoyed this class very much.
I think that if there was question slides after the relfections from last week that it would encourage more group discussion
Mandatory requirements of having the students see him in his office at least once.
I think he is a great teacher as is and as the old saying goes, "If it 'aint broke, don't fix it."
More Do It Yourself activities because all of the ones done in class this semester were really fun!
16. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?
Brian really encourages his students & the amount of work we do in the classroom is effective for our future careers. He makes sure to update us every week & hold us accountable if we back-slide in the class.
Brian showed his concerns of his students by keeping tabs with them on their progress.
Everything! But most of all, his reminder emails. It shows how thoughtful he is of his students and how much he wants us to succeed. Most professors here at UHM have a real "If you're not looking at your syllabus, too bad for you, I don't care!" attitude. Brian sends out an email at least weekly to remind everybody of upcoming assignment due dates and to thank everyone for the class session. It really means a lot to his students and shows his dedication and care for us.
He provided us with valuable information that we can use in our future classrooms. He was always there to help us out with anything that we needed help with and was very enthusiastic about his teaching. What I found to be the most valuable about Brian Kajiyama is that he is an inspiration to all. He really inspired me to be the best teacher that I can be and made me want to further my education in special education.
What I found most valuable and helpful about Brian Kajiyama was that he was very helpful. He helped me with anything that I needed help with. He lessons were also very insightful and were easy to understand.
He is passionate about teaching his students and does a great job of implementing different teaching styles and modeling them for future teachers.
He is always available for help and he is very organized and plans everything well!
I never had a professor care about a student so much! Have mr. Kajiyama as my professor was a pleasure. He always checked on me to see if I was okay. If I missed an assignment he would contact me. He always helped me to get my work completed! He is an awesome professor.
Brian was always reliable through any type of email, especially email. If i were confused I knew I could ask Brain for help and that he would give me great advice to do my best.
He is always there to help us.
I really enjoyed all of the guest speakers in this class. I also enjoyed doing the "do it yourself" projects
He is always available for help whether over the internet or in his office. He makes sure everyone is on-task and even sends individual reminders to students who have forgotten homework and is flexible on making up work. I think a good teacher is willing to be flexible if a student is willing to learn!
I found that he was always informing the class through emails about weekly reflections that were do and future readings that needed to be completed. I also liked that he always responded quickly to questions via email or anything. He also makes himself available to help in any way that he could.
I really liked how available he was to help us out if we needed assistant. He always encouraged us to ask for help if you needed and was always there to help. He also responded quickly to questions that we asked and was well connected.
He is always eager and ready to help you with any questions you have.
He communicates effectively with students and is open to discussion and questions.
I thought it was awesome on the first day of class when I found out that Brian had cerebral palsy and was going to be our teacher. I have not had very much experience with people with disabilities and Brian inspired me to change my major to dual prep.
I found his incite on life, experiences, and views on people with disabilities most valuable. Also, he will always make himself available and is always willing to help. He pays attention to everything we say in our reflections and makes the work we do for this class actually feel worth doing.
He is easy to talk to and responds quickly to emails.I felt really comfortable in communicating with Brian.

23. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
I really liked doing the little activities. It'll help me later on when I start working with students. The content learned in this class can be used with all students.
Guest speakers, relevant handouts and videos.
DIY Projects, guest speakers, Brian's personal videos to show the class
I enjoyed the Do it Yourself projects!
What I liked best was that was the DIY projects were we were able to do things on our own. It gave use the chance to learn how to use technology in our classes.
I like that the teacher communicated with us so well and that he used every aspect of technology that he could.
Working with "real" stories.
I think learning different techniques that I will be able to use in a classroom.
I enjoyed the DIY projects! they were very engaging and exciting. Now I can use the programs on my mac for educational usage.
The do it yourself activities
the DIYs
I liked the setup of the class where we had a reflection of last week's materials and then relate it to the current week's. This way, everything seems important and relevant.
I liked the DIY activities and that every activity we did in class was very engaging. I also like that we started every class session with a joke. It really starts the day, especially Monday's on a positive note!
I really liked the different videos and the do it yourself projects that we were able to do in class. They were fun and enjoyable and at the same time we learned a lot from them.
Learning about all the different ways to use my computer to not only help in the classroom but to have fun with during my dail life
His course projects are innovative and engaging.
I liked how there was a lot of videos and readings but not a lot of written work.
I liked the DYI projects because they were really hands on and allowed creativity.
I really liked the do it yourself activities because they were so fun and engaging. The activities matched up perfectly to the material that we were reading week to week.
24. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
Honestly, when we explain our own exerts. I often got bored & sleepy.
Textbook readings
The mid term paper that we had to write. It was a little hard to think on the spot rather than having the time to think it through.
There was nothing that I did not like about this class.
The long class periods and seeing the teacher only once a week.
Nothing. I enjoyed this class very much!
I enjoyed everything!
Speaking when my picture would just show up on the screen. Sometimes others would already say my insight about the readings.
Nothing, everything was great.

I was never a big person on reading things, so I didn't like all the readings. BUT, I know that reading comes with every course that I take and I learn from the readings as well so this is something that I know I will have to do. But overall I really liked everything.
The readings were sometimes long and there were too much of them during some weeks.
I enjoyed it all.
The aspect of this course that i liked the least was the mid term. Although i was prepared, I just didnt like taking the midterm and using up all the whole class time typing out long answers to the questions.

Thank you for being a great teacher! This is one of the courses that for the first time, I feel that I have actually learned something and made me want to strive to become the best possible teacher.
Really enjoyed this class as well as Brian Kajiyama. I would suggest others to take his class.
I really enjoyed this class and wish that Brian Kajiyama taught more courses.

Thank you for a great semester! :) I hope mny more people are able to learn from you!
Thank you so much for being my instructor and thank you for teaching me many things.
Brian is a great instructor. He is very selfless and really focus on us as students. His daily class schedule really forces us to finish the readings and comment on them in class. It brings me out of my comfort zone, which is good for me in the long run.

This class changed my views on Special Education and people with disabilities. It also changed my views on life and me as a person. Because of this class I decided to pursue the dual prep program.

15. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
He had everyone be involve in class.
I'd love to learn more about making videos to use in the classroom.
Sometimes I think we take up a little too much time sharing our reflections. Maybe instead we could each log in to laulima at the beginning of class and share if we feel moved to do so. Other than that the class is GREAT and needs no changes!
I don't know what Brian can do more for this class. I think Brian is a great teacher. I learned so much for this class, that I didn't know before. It has broaden my knowledge in becoming a teacher.

I honestly cannot think up of anyways that this course can be improved at the moment.
Can't, his course was very informative & I learned A LOT.
I think Brian did a wonderful job teaching this course and I can't seem to think of any way he could change the class to make it better.
Thankyou Prof Kajiyama,
Not sure, this was probably my favorite class!
No improvements are needed.
He does not need to improve.
I think he did a good job teaching this course.
Overall, Brian is good. I would like to take other classes from him again and I would definitely want my friends to take his class. I really learned a lot from him, so there's not much improvement. I wish we met up twice a week at least. This was one of the classes i looked forward to going this semester.
16. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?
His warm and openness.
I find the hands-on activities accompanied by printed instructions valuable. I also think that the readings about certain successful individuals and then having them come and visit and bring awareness to the class through presentations are most valuable.
I remember thinking who better to teach a special education class that someone who knows first hand? That is so true because I learned a lot from Brian's personal experiences. I feel his answers and insight were extremely valuable.
Brian is always in class early. Always ready for class. He really knows he stuff. He always have the attitude of not giving up. Every time I see him it changes me to pursue my career even more.
What I found to be very helpful was the variety of resources Brian brought into the classroom. We had guest speakers that presented on a variety of topics. Also, Brian used a PowerPoint presentation along with his lecture that included not only words but pictures and video clips a well. I find that I am very visually stimulated so this was helpful for me. I also enjoyed working on the computer even though it was a bit frustrating at times and learning different strategies in which we can engage our students with computers as future teachers. Also, Brian was extremely responsive to students throughout the semester. For myself I found that he was quick to respond to e-mails and personally I think it is important for teachers to stay in touch with students during the semester as questions may arise and also especially for classes that are once a week.
Brian's insights on the world and his take on Special Education. Very positive, He created a very positive and engaging classroom environment.
His positive attitude and Brian was so helpful in every aspect of the course!
He is so genuine, and really cares about his students
Brian has been my best professor so far. He was able to relate to the students and opened my mind to so much about education in general and this particular subject. I felt that if I ever needed help, Brian was more than helpful at all times. He genuinely cares for his students and their well being. His weekly reminders and emails were so helpful and made this class a lot more fulfilling for me. Brian is one of those professors whom I will always remember and whose lessons I will take with me in the future.
He was always there to help through email or meetings. His lessons and assignments were extremely clear & well understood.
He is very easy to talk to and he is a very understanding teacher. He had each class planned out really well and on schedule. It was also really helpful because he was very well organized!!!!
I learned about the most inspirational people in the world, while taking this class. I believe through learning about those people, it has inspired me to make a difference in people's lives. I learned to be most appreciative of all I have and all that I have been blessed with.
He would email us reminders and was very encouraging. He made me not mind doing work. I actually wanted to do the work.
I enjoyed Brian's positive attitude. I always looked forward to attending his class. I have learned a great deal from his teaching and most importantly he is such a great role model. We should have more teachers/professors like him that can see each student's potential. I would like to be a difference maker like him. Awesome Job Professor Kajiyama!!!

23. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
I liked how we all were able to input our opinions.
This class opened my mind more to things that I was not aware of. This class was not hard for me and it didn't have to be. The important thing was that I understood the material; the readings and presentations were understandable and didn't go over my head. Some readings were lengthy but I understood them. The final project requires a lot of planning, time, and effort, in other words, it's a lot of work, but it's do-able. All through out the class I felt that the tasks were do-able, at least after instructions and examples were given out.
I love the do it yourself activities and the fact that we were given plenty of time to get them done so we didn't have to stress if we messed up or didn't understand. Our questions were welcome and always answered thoroughly, no matter how long it took. There is nothing about this class I didn't like.
I really like the DIY activities. It made me more creative in doing Powerpoints for other classes.
I liked the videos we watched. They were educational and brought a positive view about the disability community. I also liked his guest speakers he had come and talk to our class. Being able to learn how to apply AT into the classroom made me feel more prepared for when I need to work with a student with disabilities as a teacher. Another aspect I enjoyed was the projects. They were really fun and creative to do!
I liked the class as a whole. Most of times, when leaving the class I feel that I have been inspired in some way. And I think that that is one of the aspects that I like the best...that it is a truly inspirational course and I feel that as future teachers, we will need to be an inspiration to them. I am glad I took this course from Brian Kajiyama.
Reflecting on peer responses and posting on laulima. Having the class participate as a whole on reflections of the previous class period.
The discussions because it helped me get a better understanding of the material and the videos and other forms of teaching that Brian used to keep the class interesting. Also the Do it Yourself projects were always fun!
All the projects and do it yourself activities.
Basically everything, I loved the DIY projects because they were an innovative way to learn skills about what we could use for our future students. The discussions and weekly postings were also great and forced me to think critically about the concepts and self reflect.
Simple AT
I really liked the different activities and projects (DIYs). It was a really creative way to learn about technology and incorporating it into fun activities. I never really knew much about using my MAC laptop, but after having many hands-on activities that included the use of lap tops, I really learned a lot about the types of options and ways to use a computer that will become beneficial to children of all ages in a classroom. I also really liked his use of powerpoint slides in class and having class discussions online and together as a class was really fun and a great way to share our thoughts and ideas without feeling uncomfortable.
I loved everything about this course!
I liked the diy's. They were really fun, but we ran out time a few class periods, but Brian let us finish the next class time. I also liked that the class size was small and Brian encouraged all of us to get to know one another. I thought the concept of the weekly laulima posts was a good idea because it gave everyone a chance to voice his or her opinions especially since sometimes people might never voice their opinions.
I enjoyed all the DIY activities. I think that it would definitely be beneficial in the future for me to know about incorporating technologies in the classroom. I also enjoyed all the guest speakers coming to our class. It made the class more enriching.

There is nothing that I didn't like.

If anything, I would have to say the aspect that I liked least about this course was having to expand on what we posted on Laulima during the beginning of class...I felt a little uncomfortable doing this but I believe it could have been for the better and that Brian wanted to hear from each one of us. I got used to it though as the semester went on and everyone became a little bit more comfortable with each other.
NONE.
The readings in the text book. But it was informative.
Talking infront of people
None.
I really enjoyed coming to class each day. I would have to say that I didn't dislike anything about this class.
none.
The class was too cold. The AC temp needs to be turned down a lot! Although I liked the laulima posts, I thought as the semester went on, it was getting harder to do because we were pretty much saying the same ti=hings every week and it took up a lot of class time.
none.

I learned that we should never give up. Also never give up on children with disability or not. They have the potential to do more. They maybe limited, but you can broad their horizons.
Overall, I enjoyed this course and felt that I learned a lot. I would highly recommend this course to others.
Brian is an excellent Professor! loved his teaching style, especially starting each class period with a joke :) will truly miss having Brian as my professor!
I think Brian did a excellent job teaching the course and taught us more than just the course material but about positive ways to live life. Good Job Brian!
Thankyou, Are you teaching next semester?
BEST PROFESSOR AND BEST CLASS YET
Brian Kajiyama is the most inspirational and down-to-earth person I have ever met. I really like the fact that he can incorporate the different concepts of learning and technology into each class lecture. I really loved the different types of class activities that he had introduced, because I really learned a lot from all of it. Not only did I learn new things, I can take those new things that I have learned and actually use it in the future. Brian Kajiyama is truly a dedicated and hard working instructor, I'm so glad to have had him as an instructor. I would have to say that he is one of the best teachers I have met here at UH Manoa. Keep up the good work!!!
I would recommend Brian Kajiyama to others. I loved this course!
Brian is a really nice guy and was generally interested in his students. He encouraged his students to go to his office hours even if it was just to say hi.
Thank you for your positive attitude. You are one of the individuals who are very inspirational. I am so fortunate that I've gotten to know you throughout the semester.

15. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
I cannot make any suggestions; it was an excellent course with an excellent instructor.
I can't think of anyway he can improve the class, it was amazing! I would have liked one more face-to-face class.
His materials were so well organized and his lectures were so very captivating, which makes it difficult to state what can be improved. Maybe incorporating role-playing activities in which teacher candidates act out what they would do in real-life situations involving people with disabilities.
The only thing that I can think of would be to raise the bar a little higher for us. I liked the A.T. website review that we had to do. Maybe in the furture, the students can do their own review, and then take a look at 2 or 3 classmates' reviews, also and see if they agree or disagree with their findings.
nothing
Not sure. He is a great teacher. Very knowledgable on the topic. He is enthusiastic, funny, and helpful. He always made him self available and exhibited great communication with his students.
I really do not have any suggestions on how he can improve, but I do want to say Brain did a great job with this class and I wish I could hve him as an instructer again.
Brian can improve the teaching of this course by continuing how he taught SPED 480 this last semester. Brian is a wonderful teacher who genuinely cares about his students and their progress. The only thing that I wish we could have had during SPED 480 were more sessions together on O`ahu. I think that this could have increased our knowledge and growth through this course.
SPED480 Has been an exceptional course. I cannot suggest anything Brian could have improved upon.
Brian did an amazing job in teaching the sped 480 class. I am not sure what Brian can do to improve this class.
I am so impressed by his organization and communications with us, and i can think of no way he could have done better by me.
It would have been nice to have more F2F time with him. We only had 2 times we meet and only for a short time. I think I speak for all of us in this cohort, we would love to have him teach more classes.
Brian, your class was amazing!
16. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?
He was always available; he provided very useful feedback and encouragement; communication was very fluid; coursework was engaging and appropriate, and presented in a wide variety of formats.
He has first hand experience and was able to share his personal thoughts and ways to improve our classrooms to be more open for our SPED students.
Loved the elluminate sessions and how helpful/informed Brian was about technology. This class was very organized.
The course was well organized. He had many thoughtful ways in which the content was imparted, through:readings, class discusions, Elluminate sessions, videos, tests, creative projects, etc. He took a lot of care for the students thoughts and ideas. He had many great guest speakers during our face-to-face and elluminate sessions.
This course was excellently developed and taught by Brian! He was enthusiastic and inspiring as well as fair and direct. I feel that not only have I learned the required material for this course, but I have gained an insight into working with children with disabilities and gained hope that I can make a difference in any child's life. I am encouraged to continue my studies because of Brian's course, and I hope one day to be as effective and inspiring an instructor as Brian has been.
His course was very well-organized for a first-time instructor; he made himself available through various ways online, from email, to his online office, even Skype. He is very fair to all students and adheres to his grading guidelines. His encouraging and positive attitude inspires all who meet him and encourages critical thinking.
His dedication to the course matter. His enthusiasm I would love to take more classes with him.
He had first hand knowledge about most of the things we discussed in class. He always had case studies of real people bringing to life what we read in our text. H eencouraged all of us to speak during the elluminate sessions, which I thought was great, as everyone seem to bring different ideas and thoughts to the table. I learned a lot from my classmates this semester.
everything
his knowledge and availability
The most valuable thing about Brian was that he had personal life experiences to relate the topics with. He is and amazing person.
This is a difficult question because Brian did such a wonderful job at accommodating all of us students who were immersed into this hybrid program through University of Hawai`i at Manoa. However, I think what was most valuable and helpful about Brian is that he never had us complete an assignment solely to do work. Everything that we did during this course was related to each other and connected in to the bigger picture of learning the material.
Brian communicated well and was always there is you needed help or had a question.
Very open and willing to go the extra mile to help his students.
Brian's passion for the subject matter. He is an inspiration and an amazing teacher and human being.
Brian was very organized and I understood what was to be expected from me as a student. Brian was a inspirational teacher. I learned a lot from this class that I was not aware of before.
He helped students discover and share a wide variety of tools that can be applied in the classroom. He always gave great, positive feedback and corrected work in a timely fashion. Brian shared his own personal stories which helped make understanding course content so much easier.
Super clear and organized. Clear expectations and assignments, very accessible and available to assist students, and really worked to give us a broad exposure, while at the same time exposing us to specific examples and guest speakers. Great incorporation of projects where we had to use some of the technologies we were learning about.
He was well organized and always available to help. He knew how to make his lessons valuable for us. He made us want to learn and do his assingments. Everything we did had a reason and all projects were things we would be able to use in our classrooms!
Brian was always prepared and shared his passion for teaching and of the subject content with us daily. He is the most inspiring teacher I have ever had.

23. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
The variety of activities; guest speakers and videos that made teaching memorable; sharing of information and resources with classmates and instructor.
Weekly elluminate sessions
Eluminate sessions and projects.
I liked the; Videos, face-to-face sessions, creative projects.
I love the digital storybooks and the discussion on various AT available.
The major fact that it opened my mind to different things and information I had not been previously aware of, and how I can see myself applying this knowledge in my future career.
Learning about assistive devices and better ways to help disabled students.
I liked doing all of teh projects the best, and I liked being able to get creative in the process.
all of them
I really enjoyed learning about assistive technology as well as hearing personal stories from Brian and his colleages.
i enkoyed our weekly elluminate sessions.
Our weekly Elluminate Live Sessions, online discussions and learning more about how to accommodate students with diverse learning needs. I am an educational assistant and I learned a lot during this course despite all of my experience working in special education. Brian brought up several topics that main stream society considers taboo when discussing peoples with disabilities. I think a big part of what I learned from this class is to consider all options when working with children. Even the options that seem impossible.
I liked that he used examples of local people who had disabilities who are very much able!
Some class sessions were held via Elluminate Live. This challenged those of us who may not have been so tech. savvy. It was a great way for students and professor to collaborate.
I loved how I got to use the elluminate live program to get together with my classmates and Brian to discuss and talk about different AT technology that we can use in our future classroom. I enjoyed and looked forward to having the online class every week.
I really liked the Elluminate Live sessions. Being able to share and learn new tricks and tools for the classroom is really helpful to me. I also liked the content: videos, readings, and guest speakers.
our Elluminate Live sessions, and our class sessions, and getting to hear about so many stories, often from the sources themselves. All the materials were great, and very interesting. Brian did a great job using a wide variety of resources and materials to support the course: text, video, elluminate live, guest speakers, poetry, and stories.
I enjoyed every part of Brians class. Iam glad that the program added this course. It has opened our eyes to new and old technologies that will be able to help our students. He also made everything we did meaningful, it never seemed like we were doing it just for the class. Everything we will be able to use in our lives and our classroom.
Our projects!
24. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
Elluminate sessions, because of time constraints.

responding to others to posts.
Taking tests, I, in general, don't like taking tests.
I wish there could have been more Elluminate! Live Sessions.
Just some technical difficulty things during our Elluminate!Live sessions, and not having enough face-to-face sessions. :(
Liked it all.
I wish we could have had more face-to-face sessions!
nothing
?
I wish that we could have met more in person, as I think that could have enriched our knowledge.
There was no aspect of the course I disliked.
NOTHING...loved everything!!!
it would have been great to have more face to face time, but as our program is statewide, and we only meet at UHM once a month, there just was not more time available. But the Elluminate live sessions, helped fill this gap.
Not enough F2F time.

Very thankful for having had the opportunity to take this course!
One of the best instructors I have ever had!
Brian Kajiyama is an enthusiastic and caring teacher. I appreciated his well organized class.
I wish you the best with your future courses Brian, you're helping to create a better world for your students, who want to make a better world for our students, who...
Please have him teach more courses.
I feel honored to have been taught by Brian. I felt like there could be no one better to teach a course like this, and I am embarrassed to say that I had so many stereotypes in my head regarding people with disablilities. I feel that getting to know Brian during the course of this summer through the class has helped me in ways I cannot explain fully. I know I already look at people with disabilities differently now thanks to Brian. He is SO able, and so amazing and so inspiring, and I am grateful to have had him as a teacher.
Brian is one of the best teachers I have had at the college level. I can't wait to read one of his books in the future.
Very excellent class, I would love to have Brian as a teacher again!
Brian Kajiyama is a wonderful instructor. It was an honor to take part in his course.
:D
Brian did an excellent job teaching this course and I am truly blessed to have been in this class!
Brian has been a truly inspirational teacher! Many students in our class had never been exposed to Assistive technologies, but i saw how well we all grasped the possibilities and potential of technology to assist those with disabilities by the end of the class. Great Job Brian! It has truly been a pleasure! Mahalo!
Brian is a great teacher and hope to have him again!
Thank you Brian!!!
