18. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
The course was somewhat self-paced. We were given the flexibility to complete homework either in-class or at home, which was awesome. Also Mr. Albritton is downright hilarious while still getting his message across effectively. It was very helpful that all of the class materials were available online just in case I had to go back over a part of the lecture.
his set up on the internet with so many examples were very helpful.
I liked gaining information on different types of coding to use to transform and design personalized web pages (CSS, HTML, etc).
It was very easy to follow along.
The aspect I liked best about this course was getting a better and clear understanding with HTML. Also, doing the assignments with Albritton present to assist the students.
The Website building.
Learning how to create websites using HTML and CSS.
The content.
The fact that there is someone to ask questions is a huge plus. William is very helpful when asked question but he makes you trouble shoot the problem yourself. We do learn from this.
Short lectures with time to work on assignments.
19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
Occasionally Mr. Albritton would stay on a certain slide while he went ahead a bit with the lecture, then would skip over a couple to catch back up. But some of us retain information better when we read something vs. just hear it, so it made the lecture hard to follow at times, at least for me personally. Also I have never enjoyed working with others, so the group project- while completely reasonable- was definitely my least favorite part of the course.
software worked good only in computers in class. library computers did not work as good
There are so many codes to memorize throughout the semester and it's rather challenging to try to use them in later assignments because of the validation errors that often come up when trying to check how well the code works before submitting the assignments.
None.
The aspect I liked least would be learning things that I already knew.
Nothing really.
Communication seems to be an issue when trying to work on a Group Project. It is unsure if the group will be "on the same page" when the deadline comes.
There are so many people in the class that sometimes I need to wait awhile before my question can be asked.
Nothing comes to mind.
20. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
I would have preferred an option to do a solo final project since I'm a control freak, but at the same time it's probably healthy to be forced into socializing once in a while. Other than the lecture-slide thing, it was a great course!
all good
I can't really think of how this course could be improved... maybe for the final project, there could be set topics to choose from instead of trying to come up with an idea of a business or type of website to not only create, but to also design as well. I think that was the hardest part of the whole semester, coming up with the topic to use for the last project.

Transform the Final Project into an Individual assignment instead of the current Group format. The professor can more easily see who are the "A" students are when they are by themself.
.
I have no suggestions.

Rock on, Mr. Albritton!
thanks for the learning
Great instructor!!! I recommend William Albritton to anyone looking to major in DMED!
This course should be transformed into an online format.
The course was very good, learned a lot. It was not hard and the examples that he gives are easy to understand,

18. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
Wide range of material covered with enough depth to get a general understanding and utility of a range of applications
I liked that we were given some class time at the end to do some homework. Majority of the time, I was able to finish my homework in class. By doing so, I didn't need to worry about doing my homework at home.
Time in class to work on assignments.
I liked having class time to start assignments so that we were able to discuss questions or problems with classmates and the instructor. The powerpoint presentations were very useful. I plan to print them all out. I think the pace of the course made it easy for everyone to keep up with all the new skills we learned each week.
What I liked about the class was learning how to use the access a lot better. Opened my knowledge of it.
19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
None
At one point during the middle of the course, one particular material was very confusing and vague. We briefly went over it, but I still wasn't able to understand it. I also didn't like how homework was graded. We wouldn't know if what we did was right or wrong.
I didn't care for the homework review questions where we only had to copy down definitions from the textbook. I think we gained a lot more understanding working on the questions relating to specific databases.
None
20. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
None
Grade the homework and then go over the homework by explaining the steps to get to the answer.
I know you can't change the set up of the classroom, but I think the way the space is designed (lots of space between students, very rigid setup with everyone focused on their own screen) might make students less likely to participate in class. Maybe having students work in small groups or pairs for assignments early in the semester might get students talking?
A teachers aid would greatly help students. Going over the home work a little more would would also help.

21. Other comments:
I enjoyed this class and learned lots. I've worked with Access in the past and taken a database class before, but I was never able to fully understand relationship types and the concept of how to keep to "one theme per table" until your class. Thanks!

18. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
Although I did not take advantage of it, I liked that the class was published early - during summer to be exact. Had I taken advantage of this opportunity, I am sure my understanding of the concepts will have been much stronger. I also like that William responds to questions posted on the forums promptly and is able to answer them effectively. I liked the different level of difficulties per assignment - some assignments were hard some were easy. It was a good balance. Perhaps the best aspect of the course is learning how to tackle more abstract tasks. I often compare the feeling of figuring out a program to the feeling you get when you figure out a 100 piece jigsaw puzzle - you don't know where to begin but soon as you find the corners and edges of the puzzle and work your way inwards, you begin to see the picture.
The entire course is carefully and clearly presented in a very organized manner.
I liked how the assignments directly related to whatever what was discussed in the powerpoints and lectures.
I appreciate how each assignment was directly related to the slides/lecture, and nothing was left unexplained.
Lectures and Slides posted online, so it was easy to rewatch and learn the materials better. Programming Assignments were fun/challenging and really related to the course.
the program writing
I liked the amount of coursework there was because while it was difficult at times ti helped to learn the concepts in a faster manner.
19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
I especially did not appreciate the lack of social interactions in this course. Although I expected the lack of social interactions from an online course, I feel like this course was the most dead of all my other online classes from the past. I could almost hear crickets in the forums!
N/A
There weren't any aspects that I particularly disliked.
the final project
I disliked that some concepts were a bit vague.
20. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
To solve the social problem maybe William could create an assignment where students are assigned a partner to correct each other's codes or maybe collaborate to write a final program. I don't know... something that involves social interactions.
This course seems to be very polished. I do not feel suggestions are needed.
Maybe having more smaller assignments for some concepts that may be difficult.
Compare / Contrast Instructor implemented API with Java API for things like linked lists, queues etc. How to declare an use the Java API for linked lists etc.
more interaction
It could be improved by more examples.
21. Other comments:
Overall, I learned quite a lot from this course. I was skeptical about my programming skills prior to this course and even thought about dropping out of class before the semester began because I did not start on the assignments during summer as William suggested. However, as the semester passed I realized I was able to follow through with the lessons and understand the concepts quite clearly. I owe it to William's teaching style. Out of all my courses this semester, this is the one class I actually looked forward into. I believe this course taught me how to enjoy programming. Thank you for an awesome semester, Prof!
ICS 211 opened my eyes to the expanse of programming. It has actually influenced my very thought process of coding and life.

Enjoyable course. Instructor presented materials in an interesting and fun manner.
It was a good learning experience. My logic and programming skills have definitely developed.

18. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
I am glad I learned C and C++
W Albritton followed his assignment schedule throughout the semester, and it made it easier to prepare for class. I also liked that he posted all of the assignments and resources on the first day of class, and we could view all the material. I also liked that we had an assignment due every class.
The assignments were concise and manageable.
Learning
I liked that the work assignments were very well oganized
19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
everything is challenging but it was great
I wished we covered GUIs in this class.
20. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
This course could be improved if he could make comments on our code. Showing or posting solutions for assignments would also help showing alternate solutions to the assignments.
Maybe a little more explanation on assignments. Most of the time, explanation was perfectly fine!
More complicated homework assignments but longer due dates.
21. Other comments:
Overall, this course was very good. I would highly recommend this teacher to fellow students.
Was a fun class

18. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
The details of power point instruction. Be able to understand a good basic knowledge of HTML.
working on the computers and learning how to create websites
I liked learning html and css protocols to learn how to design a web page. Seeing your work on a webpage was very exciting.
Relaxed atmosphere, enjoyable learning environment. basic concepts explained in a clear and concise manner.
Being able to do assignments in class, get feedback from the instructor, and being able to have time for one on one help if needed, within the class period.
Creating and publishing web pages from the very beginning and with each assignment. Producing a product, as opposed to homework answering a set of questions, was great!
Good coverage of topics related to web development. Assignments both helped my understanding and gave me insights into how to correctly create a webpage (even regarding readability and design).
What I liked in this course was being able learn to create a website and assignments that made it easy for me.
Just the topic of the class. I enjoyed learning how to make websites look good.
19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
nothing
There was no aspect that I did not like.
None- I liked all of it.
The least aspects that I didn't like is when you think you got the assignment right, it validates that I have some kind of error.
20. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
nothing
The course could be improved with more examples of how the html and css protocols work. We learned the basics of the coding, but more examples would have been helpful.
PREREQUISITES: Taking a basic computer skills test before considering this class.
I actually like it how it is. Assignments have the minimum things we learned that class due, but you can always add more, or customize the web page, so long as you have the required things included. You're also able to access everything you learned in class, online,on laulima. Very helpful and useful.
Maybe supplemental readings/materials for those who want to learn more than just the basics? Of course this can be done on their own as well. Otherwise I like how it is now.
I wish that the Dreamweaver software wasn't too expensive to do the assignment.
Would have liked to learn a little more about using what we learned in class and applying it in the real world. Learn a little more on actually publishing our websites.

if you are interested in learning how to create websites, i would recommend this class.

18. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
I liked creating databases.
learning new skills for windows and mac computer
I liked being able to see the principles of database fundamentals application to the real world immediately upon starting.
I like how the course is so well organized. I like the instructors short lectures. I like the class time the instructor sets aside to work on assignments. I like the points the instructor gives for attendance. I like how he grades assignments quickly (same day). So much good things...
everything, teacher made work easy to understand and was always willing to help
The way the information of the class worked with the assignments I thought were tied really well to each other. My before the class and after the class knowledge of the subject vastly changed. I think it was one of the best college courses I have taken.
Simplicity of the lectures/use of PowerPoints.
19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
Working with SQL
nothing. everything was good
Having to wait until the end of the course to figure out how to assemble a complete database.
i don't know.
The final assignment. It was a team assignment, and I could have done much better on my own. My teammates were uncooperative and our resulting database was poorly designed. Also, what was expected for the last assignment was not clear. This was the only time I really didn't understand what was expected of me, and that resulted in a few false starts. Between that, and the lack of cooperation from my teammates, I lost interest in the assignment. It would have been better if the assignment was not a group project. I understand the importance of learning to work with others, but this was an introductory database class, and the final project asked too much of us. Maybe if we could've chosen our teammates? I don't know... What I do know is that I enjoyed most of the class, except for that final assigment, which I really, really hated.
not being able to pick partners for final project
A little too patient with those that struggled in the class. I felt that those who did well in the class were slowed down by those that struggled.
nothing to mention
20. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
Not sure
nothing. everything was ggod
The pace is good enough and the material is easy to understand. No improvements needed.
i don't know.
I dont know any way this can be improved
I honestly cannot think that there's anything to improve. The lessons get out there, the work is identified and reasonable. Don't mess with if it ain't broke.
A little more time could be spent in report formatting and layout.

The class work is well organized! I have time to look over future work and practice the work before class. Plus when I run into problems I usually write questions down for my instructor to answer in future classes. The computers are great! Fast, slick, and clean!
Hands on exercises to apply database programming.
Class is super organized, that you know what to read, what to do, what to know, and all that. Instructor gives time in class to work on assignments, and walks around the room to help students. Learning ASP.NET web forms was essential for my career as a web designer, and Mr. Albritton taught this well.
The valuable natural of the class.
everything

19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?

Have this course transformed into an online format just like the JAVA classes. Do not really like group projects, so perhaps a individual project with alot of time to complete it. Having more extra credit assignments for helping a student's grade.

Using another program to go with visual basic.
It can not be improved
I think this course is over-all good and well organized.

Lots of assignments were a good way to practice what we learned. Got grade back very quickly. Professor answered questions very quickly.

We can ask him questions at anytime and he would reply quickly
I liked learning about stacks, queues and linkedLists the most. Tree's not so much..lol
I learned a lot from the material covered in class.
This course is very well structured and organized. A student could, if they wanted, do the entire class as soon as they wanted. Assignments were always relevant, and slides/lectures were helpful as well.
19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
Podcasts weren't always explanatory where it really counted. Along with that, the example code was hardly in line with the assignment. This left an important portion of each assignment to the imagination where I had to read and re-read the appropriate material and/or seek extra help.
Getting the java comment/documentation down took a few assignments to get the hang of.
Use of professor prepared java classes. Learning to use the Java API or writing the code would be much better than using prepared classes.
The unclear homework instruction.

It was hard to keep up with the workload over the semester.

21. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
Better example programs that are more in line with the homework assignments would improve this course greatly. I realize that it's important not to "give away" the source for our assignments and that we're supposed to write our own code. However, when the podcast isn't descriptive where it counts and the example program differs too greatly from the assignment, concrete understanding of the concepts can't be formed and it becomes impossible to get a decent grade for the course.
No using prepared classes
Clearer homework examples and instructions.
This course was very informative, and I have learned a lot. I can't think of an criticisms at this time.
Maybe keep the assignments a little closer to the examples.
There really are no changes that I think would benefit this course. It is set up really well.

Overall an enlightening class on Java! I plan to develop some apps over the summer for Android, so the instruction in this course should come in handy.

18. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
ALL :D
The way William Albritton taught the class made me want to come to class and learn.
I liked how each of the daily assignments were built upon the knowledge and learning outcomes gained from the previous assignment(s). Our instructor, William Albritton made great use of the rooms equipment and presented well. I liked how our instructor showed the HTML structure on one screen (electronic whiteboard), and the CSS code on another (projector screen), back and forth, in reverse, multiple times, until we got it right. The presentation of the concepts were top-notch and taught me HTML and CSS. I liked how the course was incredibly organized. I liked the pace and progression of learning objectives and assignments. I liked all of the example web pages the instructor created and presented. It really does make the subject interesting. I liked how the instructor allowed everyone the creative control of their own work. It made the course interesting for the students. I liked how the instructor was there to help you if you struggle and ask for help. I liked how he walked around the room offering to help. I liked how you know exactly where you stand in terms of grading each day. I liked the instructor's enthusiasm and energy. I liked how he treated everyone. He very level and fair. No bias, no prejudice. His demeanor friendly and perfect. As a DMED major, I liked how we learned practical and valuable skills in this course. I liked how this course and instructor are available in both Fall and Spring. All of that is the best.
I liked learning the content of programing in HTML
Every day I learned something new about HTML/CSS and building webpages! This is an excellent class and I'd definitely recommend it to any DMED student!
19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
nothing
That the computers we worked on had the applications we needed, we did not have to buy them.
I cannot think of anything that I disliked. let me think about it a little longer... ... still ... cannot think of anything I don't like.
N/A
There wasn't one thing I disliked about this class.
20. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
Only way this course can me improved is let the students pick their partners for the final project.
Let's just leave all the improvements to the course up to this instructor. From my student perspective it is perfect.
I think one way this course could have been improved is if the lab was open for DMED students to work in, so that we could have more access to Adobe software, and we could spend more time on our assignments and projects.
This course was awesome! Nuff sed!

Great class, great teacher, keep up the good work Mr. Albritton
If any student was left behind in this course; it was their own choice. There were several students with attendance issues. I witnessed some of it in all my classes this semester. As sad as it is, I feel mentioning this is important because the participation(or non-participation) of your classmates can affect the learning experience. I know a lot of that is beyond our control and you can't make anyone do something. I'm just pointing it out.
Prof. Albritton is a fantastic teacher!! He was very helpful and his lessons were very clear and precise. I had a lot of fun in this class and really enjoyed it. Not only is Prof. Albritton a great teacher, but he's very funny and approachable. This guy deserves a raise or an award...or BOTH!

coding using JGrasp and Eclipse was a hoot and very fun.
hands on learning
The videos were very informative and helpful for the class.
I liked that Professor Albritton was very animated and lively. He is easy to approach and talk to, should you have any questions.
the fact that it was online and i didnt have an obligation to be on campus so i could work more
The ability to email him at anytime with questions.
Everyone hates ppt slides but these were awesome. Good explanation, good examples, and the pictures everywhere really help avoiding getting distracted. It was great to be able to blow through a bunch of lectures that were clear, and then spend that extra time on sections that just weren't clicking in my head.
Mainly the the fact we got to learn the concepts of things and how they work.
I took the class online. I liked how I was able to watch the lecture videos anytime I wanted, or on TV if I wanted.
Examples to work off of.
learned a lot of material of programming
giving assignments on weekly basis so we can practice programming
I like the set up of the class. Professor Albritton divides the class hours into two sections, first part is discussion and second part is hands on. The immediate hands on helps me apply all the things we learned in the discussion.
The professor is very considerate and wants his students to succeeds.
Always getting help in class whenever i needed it. Also he didnt just give us the answer he made sure we could figure it out on our own.
19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
N/A
how fast we go through assignments
I wish I would have taken it in person, the teacher seems to really know his stuff.
I did not like that we were expected to complete 2-3 programming assignments a week. In comparison to other ICS courses because programs take some time to construct, debug, etc. we were expected to complete programs once a week. Also, the lectures and powerpoints go hand in hand, they did not provide as much information that was needed to complete the assignment.
the fact that when i asked him questions he just told me i was wrong most of the time
How heavy loaded some of the assignments were. Too much to do in a small assignment
There were a few times where it seemed some programming method that we'd need wasn't covered in the lecture.
Not much explaination on how to go about coding, or atleast I found it hard to translate the concept to the coding.
Although they weren't major assignments, I didn't like have so many due. Two a week was a bit much for me considering I had work.
Probably should have spent a little more time coding the given coding used such as nodes/linked lists etc which are just implemented.
i like the assignment of the teacher given, its very organized and the our laulima site of this class is very unique.
the way he teaches
I enjoyed the course very much.
I kind of didnt like how he would get lost in some of the programs.
20. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
slow down a little somethings are still brand new to students
Maybe more example code?
The powerpoints and lectures should focus more on the assignments. Less programs in a week, or break the programs into sections.
Take the on campus class. Avoid the online class. He is a good teacher in class but online not so much.
Less work-heavy assignments.
Take a look at the curriculum coverage of the GUI and Applet vs Application methods. Especially Layouts. See if there's any gaps that could be covered in the lectures.
More example codes and how they function.
I didn't like having two assignments due every week. It would've been nice, like a refresher, to have just one due every now and then.
Instead of just taking code and using it, maybe code more of the whole program.
explain things more
I think if he went indepth more into some of the programs. Also if he could explain how these programs can be used more with each other.

18. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
I liked how we got to learn on how to make a html files, and learn the different codes.
I liked that I was able to apply and use the system after he taught it.
Everything was interesting and I absolutely loved this course. I would take it again just because it was so much fun, the professor is a wonderful teacher.
super cool teacher
Being able to create a web page from scratch
I like how we are able to create our own webpage while learning new coding.
I like everything we did in this course. I learned a lot with the html and css coding. I also like how I got to express my creativity in class while working on the final project.
The slide show that he presents in class is very helpful, clear and objective. If we have any questions about it, we can access the content through Laulima at anytime.
19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
It was difficult to learn all the codes.
All..
Nothing, everything was great!
everything was good
having to look up html codes
I guess just getting stuck on codes.
Nothing. This course taught me a lot.
Using only the templates from the course made me a little bit confused when I try to create a webpage on my own for fun at home.
20. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.

Maybe just a little more time for the final project, however I prefer working alone, not in groups.
i dont realy know
i feel it is fine the way it is

There's nothing much I wish this class could improved. This class is terrific!
-Start at least one assignment from zero, not using templates would probably make us understand the steps and functions more clear since this is the lowest beginners class. -Using other students assignments and projects as example is always a motivation and inspiration since we are all in the same boat.
21. Other comments:
This course has taught me so much valuable information. I remember when IK first entered the class and was terrified for html code, it looked so complicated, but come to find out it was not hard at all. The professor is one of my favorite professors yet!! Keep doing what you are doing.
cool if you know what your doing
Great teacher
I would like to say thank you to Professor Albritton for making the class interesting. Like I said, I learned a lot and enjoyed all class sessions. I recommend him to other students.
William Arbritton makes us feel comfortable and welcome! That helps a lot when we have questions and need help. Not to mention that he is really dedicate in replying to our emails ASAP which for me shows professionalism.

I loved finding the information very useful for real life situations!!
We always have a fun time in class.
the teaching
He provide examples and teach us through (very helpful) power point presentation which is also on Laulima so we can access it again.
Learning the SQL is awesome.
Prof. made it fun to learn about databases. he made it was easy to learn.
The teacher is swag
Albritton has a very dynamic teaching style, I really enjoyed the class as a whole.
I like how we do the assignments in class. It trains us on the subject we just learn and at the same Professor Albritton is so helpful.
19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
The information was easy to understand, digest, and apply, so it wasn't incredibly challenging.
none
nothing
The referential Integrity and sometime its a bit confusing

Nothing.
There was nothing necessarily bad about the course but some of the material got really complicated.
20. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
I have no comment on this.
Maybe if we can choose our own final group project
What if i do not think this course needs improvement. Do i need to still wrote two or three sentences? This course is fine.
More discussions or clear explanations for lectures
I think the prof. has a great grasp on this course on how to teach while making possibly boring material fun. i would recommend future students to take this class from Prof Albritton
I don't know.
I liked it the way it is.

Easy to follow format made understanding concepts better understood.
The assignments were fun and straight forward
Able to make websites with other stuff working in it.
Going through the assignments in class helped my understanding of the material.
"Hands on" approach to teaching the concepts and fundamentals.
I liked the class environment. It was relaxed and friendly. He allows his students to explore and think outside the box. William is enthusiastic about teaching and made learning fun.
Learning out to do the vb file in web developer.
I liked how helpful the professor was with our assignments.
Resources The power point was very useful. The atmosphere was focused but unthreatening (not intimidating).
19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
Kind of a bland subject.
The final project but that is mainly because I don't work too well in groups.
the part where we have to do if-else statement
Doing assignments in class. It felt rushed and I wasn't able to absorb it as well as when I did it at home.
20. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
Maybe some extra work may help with remembering what was learned. Some study material to help reenforce what was learned.
Maybe have students make their own example of how to use what they learned in class.
No improvement needed.
Can't think of anything at the moment.
none
All in all I was happy with it.

17. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
The technology in the classroom was top notch. The projector screen with high res was absolute to the knowledge of the class. Mr. Albritton has a great sense of humor and he adds excitement to the class.
His power points were very clear cut, and easy to follow whenever I missed a class. Everything was very straight forward, there were no gray areas or difficult concepts. This was a very cool class.
I really appreciate the structure of the assignments. Creating a lesson plan in which all new topics are explained and applied without the need of hw or programs outside of the class time is very helpful. The somewhat rigid design isnt ideal for most, but it's roots in discipline and efficiency keep me motivated and allowed me to do much better in this class than others.
we always have fun in class.
the powerpoints were helpful the content small assignments daily
I enjoyed doing the daily assignments/projects. They really helped me to understand and remember the material covered in class.
Showing what is happening in the program through written explanations on the board.
How it was a very hands on class and I was able to finish most of my assignments in class
The class set us up for a good amount of information on web coding.
I liked doing Assignment 21 because I really loved the design I made and the colors matched the Youtube video I posed
Great course. The material was well presnted.
Easy to understand
Learning all about web design and learning all the codes that we needed to do for our work
18. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
learning about the positioning of the contents on the page, text aligning was straight forward, as was the border and table and padding stuff. but when it came to positioning all elements, like iframes and videos etc. that got very confusing.
The course matter itself can be frustrating, but there's no helping that.
none
sometimes cannot understand the examples cannot resubmit work
Nothing.
Didn't really go through a whole program being written step by step to try and give individual understanding at different parts.
I'm not really comfortable with the final group project idea.
Well, I did struggle with Assignment 20. But It doesn't bother me that much now.
The class was a little chilly. Hey you asked.

It would be nice if the positioning power point was a little more spread out, its kind of a lot, or I could just have trouble grasping it. it could just be me. Its a convoluted portion.
All the help was there, all the structure was there, and the instructor was probably one of the best i've had, especially for this subject matter. Don't change a thing.
none
learning more codes if not in class or learning how to code something specific
My only suggestion would be to go over some materials again in order for the students to remember it better.
Do a few programs in real time in front of class to show what each part of the program does. Explaining how to write them and why it is that way.
I would change the final project thing a bit. Working in a group just adds more stress.
So far, I think there's nothing wrong. The lectures are clear enough and the powerpoints and the class examples on Laulima are there for reference.
There is always room for improvement.
1) Longer assignments. 2) More projects
keep the course how it is
21. Other comments:
Thank you Mr. Albritton for your great attitude and knowledge of the HTML coding world. I appreciate your wealth of information and I enjoyed the projects with adding my own creativity. Go Bama!!
The course was great, I learned an amazing amount, I always thought coding was rocket science, but just like assembling a gaming pc, step by step, its really not that crazy. And Mr. Albritton was very easy to interact with, and very eager to help students, he never got frustrated with repetitive questions and was always willing to explain something twice. An excellent professor.
I am really looking forward to taking more classes in this subject area and with this instructor.
Learned alot thanks!

17. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
William is an awesome instructor that is always willing to provide assistence to us. He maximizes class time with lectures and assignments while allowing time to do work towards the end of the class to secure a thorough knowledge before leaving class.
ã?ªã??
I liked that we had time in class to work on our assignments. This allowed us have our questions immediately answered by the instructor.
I felt that Mr. Albritton scored the assignments in a timely manner. This allowed one to ask for the correct solution or to clarify the mistake.
I like the fact that we had plenty of "on hands" time to do our assignments.
The best aspects of this class was the fact that Prof Albritton is so willing to help out anyone in the class that just asked for it! Not to mention he give feed back on the assignments and shows what was wrong and how it could be fixed.
The fact that we worked with databases is what I liked best because this is something I want to go into in the future.
It was a pretty chill class.
William is very easy to get along with. He showed the concepts and answers to lessons in a clear and easily understood manner.
i liked the powerpoints and how he walks everyone through the database tools and how to use them.
Learning new things, and all of the class's PowerPoint being accessible online.
Well organized, prepared, ready and willing to help.
I like the group project, where we are able to apply our collective knowledge we learned from Professor Albritton to make a working data that will result in a benefit for one of group members career in managing network PCs.
18. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
I understand that in order to grasp specific concepts more homework may be assigned but we we should have been given more time to complete the added assignments.
ã?ªã??
Sometimes the database didn't do what I wanted it to. Completely, absolutely, totally the fault of the database. Bad database. Bad.
None.
Nothing. Class was awesome!
There wasn't anything that I didn't like.
The subject wasn't all that interesting, but can't do anything about that.
I can't think of any thing.
Some assignments were a bit confusing, but nothing too bad.
The book's chapter questions were difficult to comprehend.

None.
Not available.
This class is fine the way it is.
Longer class periods may help. The class sometimes felt too short do finish some work.
I don't know. Maybe a different book that is laid out in an easier language.
I find it fine the way it is
I am now able to build more manageable data program for inventory tools, and genealogy, than using excel spreadsheets.

Keep up the excellent work Prof Albritton! This class was awesome!

17. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
I like that it is very clear what is due when and that there are links to related materials right next to the assignment.
ONLINE! Many other courses would be better this way.
Got to learn a few new thing about java.
The assignment corespondent what we were doing that week.
I like that it's online. This instructor has one of the best organized syllabi and assignment schedules...everything is where it should be and it was easy to follow.
I like that we had 2 short assignments (as opposed to one big one) each week, and that they came with example programs that we could use as guides. Also, the extra credit opportunities are very nice to have.
Professor Albritton's excellent organizaion. The entire course was very well organized and easy to follow. Professor Albritton should definetely be a model to follow by other professors.
video lectures
I like how the assignments were very straightforward and to the point. i felt like i learned a lot with this class.
I liked how the lectures provided us with lots of examples to help us with our assignments. The instructor provided clear explanations
18. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
I think it would encourage students to learn more if you could turn in the assignment multiple times for a higher score, providing incentive to do an assignment after it is already graded should there be mistakes.
Except for a few thing I feel like I didn't learn much at all.
Give more time for the assignment
Lectures need to be updated - many were difficult to follow and understand. There is no doubt that the instructor knows the material. I found that some of the explanations were very vague.
I'm not too keen on group projects... I'm a full time student and I work, so I prefer working at my own pace. I would also rather not have the added pressure of bringing someone else grade down.
I believed the course met its expectations.

A lot of assignments.
I did not like how our assignments were due on Tuesday, since we didn't get feedback during the weekend it limited the amount of help we could receive.

20. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
More smaller assignments possibly to get a better understanding of specific parts of code before coding the assignments we did.
Not have it be a long distance class.
Some of the assignment weren't that clear that it was hard to write some of the codes for parts of the assignment. The podcast lecture didn't help for some of the assignment.
Shorten the lectures. Clarify concepts better. There is a lot of skipping from one thing to the next and back again. It's also difficult to follow the lecture when he refers to a document that you need to download and have open during the lecture. If you haven't printed the document and must look at it online, you'll need to scroll and jump from one window to the next. In the meantime, you're missing what he's pointing to because you're looking elsewhere trying to figure out what part of the document he's talking about. Then you need to stop and/or rewind the lecture until you figure out where he is. That was particularly frustrating.
Some more example programs might be helpful. Otherwise, this was an awesome online course!
I can not think on anything to change because I really think the course is very well organize, and Professor Albritton makes the class very interesting.

Maybe instead of two assignments a week make it one assignment a week.

17. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
I learned a lot of how to perform course material from the PowerPoints. 95% of the time I walked away from class more confused during than I was after I reread the powerpoints. I like the ability to access the professor through google chat via gmail. He spoke in very high level terminology during class from words that were first time presented in last class. He has to realize his students may have never accessed a computer or never programmed before either.
Plenty of time in class to do homework.
The freedom to code in my own fashion without having to write programs to match an instructor's preconceived notion of how it should be done.
is was very user friendly. and the teacher gave us useful tools to understand the lessons
Interesting programs
Working on our assignment in class.
Powerpoints and example programs available to look at for reference.
18. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
I would like to have seen more examples of how to use certain topics. I realize that giving an example similiar to the assignment would not challenge a student to learn the topic, but it seemed as though alot of the assignments were nothing like the examples given in the lecture.
The amount of homework given and when it was due. Some of the students work shift work. 12 hour shifts four days on four days off. It became difficult to do homework when our string of work began on a Monday, because we had work at 545am left for school came back to work and left to go home at 545pm. So we would have to rush to do homework that night and finish it before going to bed, to get ready for another 12 hour shift at work the next day.
C++. was not that cool. But the dereferenceing with parenthesis was a doozy! Needed more in depth explaination of what this was and how it worked down to how the cpu presents the information and better and more graphical representation of whats happening during program execution.
Outdated methods, why use EMACS? Twenty minutes of class would be spent on lecture, the rest of the class was used to do the homework. Class time could have been used more effectively.
Very little time to turn assignments in.
The instructor and the amount of time given to complete assignments. One day to complete a program, in a language you are new to, is not feasible. It gives you no time to work through problems or seek help.
The presentation of concepts were not presented well.
Not enough depth or breadth to the course, and could use more instruction and better explanations for the sections covered (but without increasing the time spent on each section).

What we learned in class was only a fraction of the homework
That we had a new assignment every class. I felt as if students were rushed to finish assignments causing stress. It seems that this course takes a toll on time when it comes to thinking about what to write in code. With a little more time on homework assignments, I feel each student will be able to progress more.
Maybe a few problems thrown in which took a little long to figure out.

20. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
Please show more examples of the programming structures being used.
A little more time for homework.
Dumb down the verbal explaination of how the material works. Teach at a lower level while maintaining the level of content taught.
More efficient time usage.
Better examples with what is expected to be turned in for assignments.
I feel the instructor was not completely prepared to teach the course. He has not taught it in several years and it was obvious. I also would have liked the instructor to remember questions he was unable to answer in class and email or give the correct answer the next class period. I also felt the instructor wasn't able to gauge how the class was feeling on a subject. I know you cannot stop if one student is lost, but if majority is, a new approach should be taken. I also wasn't fond of the teaching style the instructor has, I felt as if he was not fully prepared or just wan't able to convey his thoughts appropriately and clearly.
Better examples. More clearly presented.
Power points need to be redone to be more informative. Would have considered reading in a file and outputting a file to be essential coding practice for a class like this. Covered makefiles exhaustively, so it would have been nice to code programs that take multiple inputs to compile in order to make the makefile have more meaning.
more time to go more in depth in programming and more examples of current programs
The instructor could be more organized. He could also base the homework off of what we learned.
This course could improve by making assignment periods slightly longer than they are now. A tutor for this course could also be beneficial to the students in this class because it isn't always easy to meet with the professor.
Go through programs a little more intricately for more understanding on each step.
21. Other comments:
The professor was awesome. But just too smart but not a teacher. He is definitely a professor not a teacher. His ability to teach very new and intricate topics like arrays of arrays simutaneously introducing strings was extremely difficult to grasp and the Dereferencing was extremely new to me. Even the word itself was new. I looked it up in the dictionary to get a clear udnerstanding of what the word meant and in reference to C programming.
Overall it was a great class.
I was lost from week 3. I was so lost I didn't even know what questions to ask. :( I understand that Mr. Albritton hasn't taught this class in a while, hopefully the next go around will be a lot better.

Mr. Albritton's sense of humor.
For being such a boring subject to sit and watch for over an hour Mr. Albritton does a great job at keeping it entertaining. It really helps keep you going when you think those videos will never end.
the online course material and assignment turn in
All, I really enjoyed this course
I liked that the whole coarse was uploaded in video and power point files. This enabled me to work at my own pace when time allowed for it.

The only improvement i can think of is a bit more simplified exam, so many options in a topic as complicated as html creates confusion.

I think William Albritton should teach other DMED courses online like, Dreamweaver and Flash because of his thoroughness in explaining difficult concepts. Maybe if he had been teaching those two courses, I would not have had to drop them because details which were needed to thoroughly understand the programs which were omitted or assumed that the students already knew.
great class. The Mr. Albritton is great at breaking down the html code and explaining it in a way everyone can understand.

2. What things did you get from this course that will benefit you personally?
Critical thinking and building upon computer language basics.
Learned more about the basics and got a better grip on how the java langauge works and was able to understand the work.
Hopefully more understanding to programming
I gained knowledge that will most likely help me in future ICS courses. And was able to read and create programs.
A better understanding of the Java programming language.
Introduced me to new styles of programming and that there's many ways to do one thing.
The things that I got from this course that I will benefit from personally are a better and improved knowledge of Java; how to model real life problems as objects and solve them using Java programs and applications; how to develop more robust programs that handle errors and exceptions; and how to search and sort through different data structures.
Task and time management
Skills needed for programming in Java.
This class will help me further in the java programming world.
Pprogramming skills that apply to more than just Java

10. Comment on the instructor's concern for the students.
He listens to the students and make necessary adjustments.
Did a good job and was willing to anwser the questions posed to him
He want us to gain understanding
Mr. Albritton had a great amount of care for the class and helped out when he could.
He is good about answering email questions promptly and with detail.
Professor Albritton is willing to except late work, in hopes of students taking extra time to understand concepts they had trouble with. He returns emails fast, and always promotes asking for help if needed.
William Albritton shows concern for his students' course understanding and course success by providing insight and help in addition to his lectures, constructive feedback to assignments, encouraging questions from students, as well as a fun and interesting learning environment.
He was always willing to assist via email and he also made himself available during his office hours.
Professor Albritton was always open to helping out students and made accommodations to our schedules.
He comes across on the videos as someone who really cares about his students, and as a teacher dedicated to doing a good job.

18. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
Interactive course between students and professor and doing assignments at student's availability.
Thw assignments were challenging and gave us a good understanding of how to write the programs and were very useful, he was also good at grading on time and giving feedback.
knowledge
I enjoyed the videoes, it was able to catch my attention and keep me on track.
I liked having easy access to the course material and the syllabus was well laid out. And the instructions for the assignments were very straight forward.
Assignments were given lengthly due dates. Chat room to speak with fellow students.
The aspects of the course that I liked were how some assignments had real life applications. I also liked how course material was presented in the "inch by inch it's a cinch" manner where although the material was challenging, it was not too overwhelming as material was presented at a good pace where each class built upon the last.
The lectures were always interesting, never boring.
I enjoyed the lecture videos. They were funny but at the same time informative and were very thorough. The slides and example code provided were also good references to use while studying.
Challenging assignments
19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
It was difficult to contact the professor to ask for help. Most of the time, it was faster getting helps from classmates and other online resources available.
Sometimes the responses to email questions were delayed for a bit.
no interaction with other students and teacher
The homeworks were the only practice we recieved and if we didnt understand it, we would need to backtrack a little.
The video lectures were filled with worthless information that often deviated into unrelated concepts. There is nothing wrong with infusing a little bit of humor into a subject, but when the humor isn't funny or just plain boring, cut it out!
I feel example coding was not helpful sometimes. Asking to do tasks we may have no background in without adequate examples was troublesome.

I wish this course was offered in class. It is sometimes difficult to grasp the concepts of the class without teacher student interaction.
The relative inaccessibility to students and the teacher immediately, due to it being an online course, was a challenge at times.
I know we're in college, but having two assignments in one week was a bit much for me. At some points I didn't understand the lesson and had to figure out the homework one after another.
mis-leading questions on the tests. Some of the questions have answers that imply testing for something else.
20. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
Provide Laulima office hours
Overall I think it was good I might've preferred a Inclass class but it was still very informative
more time between assignments
Maybe add optional assignments so help further the students learning pattern without grading them.
Redo the video lectures so they don't sound like programming for 2-year-olds. The instructor would often speak like the people watching had never taken any programming courses before.
Better examples.
There should be an in class alternative. I also think the assignments should reflect real world applications.
None.
Although Professor Albritton did explain each lesson well, there were times where I was still confused because I felt he didn't really help explain how to do the homework. I guess I just needed him to be a little more thorough. Programming is not easy
The text book web-site is not very beneficial to students.

Some things I got from this course that will benefit me personally is better knowledge of computers and their devices. This has already helped me when I moved into my new room and had to set up my computer on my own. I was much more aware of what the cables meant and what was to be plugged into where. Also, learning more about how to use different word porograms like excel and power point also is really benefitial to me.
I learned some new things about Microsoft Office programs.
I learned about different types of hardware and how components of the computer work.
I got shortcuts and learned how to use certain things like powerpoint and excel that I have never used before.
I leaned a lot about computers that I did not know. I also learned a lot about security while using the internet.
More details into the operation of the programs available.
i learned a lot about my computer. i realized that almost everything i read about i had asked someone prior to the class.

I think it should have been stated more clearly before that the due date for everything was to be set well before the end of the semester date but besides that I think he did well with replying to emails and helping us when we asked for it.
Whenever I had a question, Professor Albritton always responded quickly and answered my questions well.
He was a great instructor and responded promptly whenever there was any questions about the material. The material was spaced out which is great due to other classes i was taking.

18. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
The aspect of the course that I liked the best was the review assignments because we got credit for them and it also helped us prepare for the test and exams.
The assignments/required tasks were very organized. I always knew what exactly was expected of me and when I should have it done by.
I enjoyed the excel and powerpoint training exercises.
I enjoyed working with the powerpoint assignment that we had to do.
Self paced is best for me. My work schedule is random at times and it fits best.
I liked how i was able to retake a quiz 3 times which helped my grade and also helped me learn and understand the material.
19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
The part of the course that I liked the least was the myitlab sections of the powerpoints and excel because they were really hard and there was nothing really there to help us with it.
The MyITLab program was very difficult to work with. I feel that the program itself is a horrible teaching aid, having the student become frustrated and not knowing what the program wants you to do rather than teaching you anything.
The tests of course! The class was great. I have no complaints.
Wished for more in depth coverage of program capabilities.
nothing much
20. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
The course could be improved in a couple of ways. The first being having a better course study guide when completing the microsoft word, excel, and power points assignments. This way students will not have such a tough time teaching themselves a computer class online.
Get rid of MyITLab.
Ocassionally I had problems with the online site that we had to use for our microsoft homework. The site did not work with my mac and kept feezing up on my pc. My pc is fairly new so I believe that it was the website.
Honestly the course was really planned quite. If i didnt get the answer right on the practice test there would be a hint box which directed me in the right way for the answer.
21. Other comments:
I liked this class because of the weekly schedule that was set up because I was never confused when anything was due and I liked how it was already set up for the whole class.

I learnt how to develop a basic web page from scratch.
better understanding of web pages, how they work, how to make them work, and most importantly, CSS!

18. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
The fast pace and HTML base.
I liked how each module we learned something new on creating web pages. The course was easy to follow and learn.
I like it online because there are so many details, so sometime when I don't understand, I can replay the podcast and revisit the area that I have trouble with.
the material, the pace
It was great that I could take a class on-line since I work full-time. In the beginning I was worried about not being able to follow along with the instructions since I wouldn't be able to immediately ask a question. The class on cable was very well put together I was able to follow along and understand what was going on. The on-line material like the examples, podcast, and slides were a great help. Hopefully more on-line or eveing classes will be available. It was a great class that I enjoyed taking.
In DMED120 the careful yet deliberate pace of the instruction promoted understanding and successful implementation of the material.
19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
N/A
Not really. Maybe too piecemeal that sometime you don't connect to the whole picture.
being online=less access for help
Although the tests were open book, it was challenging... as mentioned in the beginning of class. For me, it was challenging towards the end to do the Tuesday class due on Wednesday since I'm not able to watch the class and work on the assignment until the evening.
Because of non availability of face to face class, I had to take the course online. Perhaps due to my age and retention abilities (or lack thereof), I might have done better in a 'real-time' classroom.
20. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.

Perhaps it would be good periodically a project to develop a web page of what we have learnt without guidcance.
have a section on how to convert file types such as mov to wmv or 3gp to ... understanding what works w/which player & on which systems (windows vs mac)
Visibility of the code characters could be better. Encourage and facilitate repetition and definition of aspects of code. Donuts. We need more donuts.

2. What things did you get from this course that will benefit you personally?
Lots of experience in programming, as well as a deeper appreciation of the finer points of ics
Learning how to code java will help me understand how programming works. I think I want to become more of an animator/videogame designer than a programmer now. But now understand the 'other side' if I ever decide to make video game. Games to me were never about just graphics, story, etc. But the unity to put everything together seamlessly. Like how movies are made.
With the amount of coursework we received (moreso the amount of days when assignments were assigned), I believe I'll be able to benefit in regards to time management.
I feel that I've gained a few good programming habits that I've picked up along the way to where I am now in my school career. For me personally, programming has always been a challenging subject, but with the proper guidance something as tough as programming can be learned.
I learned how to problem-solve better, even outside of class. That surprised me.
programming techniques I might have had a harder time learning on my own
- The different algorithms and their respective run-time. - The Java language.
a ton of assignments, but there is no way you can get through this class unless you understand what is going on. mr. albritton's lectures and slides are well done and if you're willing to put in the work, you will understand the material.

Was great, was helpful when asked.
I believe his Powerpoints and podcasts showed good concern for the learning process of the students. While there wasn't as much communication with students as I've received in the past with online courses, he still did a good job as a teacher.
His grading system seemed very fair.
seems to want students to succeed
Great!

18. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
Lectures and the helpfulness/enthusiasm of the instructor
I like the online course. I get to stay home and do my assignments.
The online aspect, the reason why I took this course (i.e. homework submitting/grading, exams taking/grading, communication, etc.).
I liked the fact that the homework weren't too challenging. The assignments were arranged in a way that we could build up our skill and understanding to prepare for the next assignment.
I especially liked it when he drew out the concepts and objects in memory, that made it much easier to understand difficult concepts like recursion and linked lists. Those lectures were probably my favorite. They went beyond the textbook explanation. I definitely want to save all the class slides for future reference.
convenience of taking it on cable/online and not having to go to LCC at any time
Practically everything was good.
i learned a lot, probably more in this class than i have in any other programming class i took. the podcasts made it great for students like me who work fulltime and can't attend a class at the campus.
19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
Exams
I got to stay home to do my assignments. You can only enjoy of being home for so long before getting bored and insane. =P The pacing of assignments just seemed...rushed. I guess when its an online class the pace is much faster than in class person-to-person.
Personal communication with the Professor was unfortunately lacking. And the fact that there were two assignments a week seemed a little over-the-top. I would much rather prefer harder assignments given maybe once a week (or even better, once every two weeks).
Even though they were an effective learning tool, it was a bit difficult keeping up with the assignments because there were so many.
N/A
I felt that the exams were too much based on tricks. I believe that I have a thorough understanding of the material but I did relatively bad on the exams. Many of the exam questions were not specific enough, which is something that is necessary for multiple choice questions.
20. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
A review of concepts before the exams, possibly a list of points
I don't know if pacing of the assignments can be slowed, but it would help. Maybe a set chat session would be cool. Feels kinda lonely without knowing your classmates or instructor and could help each other out. Also, some encouragement to use the discussion/message board more, I guess.
To reiterate: -More personal communication with students -Harder assignments every week or every other week (harder, less assignments)
interaction between students could be improved, but I'm not quite sure how. But I wouldn't say it's really necessary for this course.
Maybe we could utilize more of the in-class discussion part of this course? I think that would be a little beneficial.
Improve the exams, more specific questions, and less tricks.
i thought the course was very well done and mr. albritton makes the class entertaining with his lectures. i wouldn't change a thing

18. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
Everything
The Myitlab trainings
working with the homework exercises.
I liked that there was a quiz practically every week. It showed what I did learn.
It was easy to follow
I liked the organization of this class. It was laid out what is due and when it was due.
I liked how the study guides worked. It was graded instantly and you could see where you needed to study more!!
Learning Word and Power Point and some insight into computer technology.
Microsoft Excel, i actually enjoyed doing it.
19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
N/A
This is the first time I took an online class. I still prefer the classroom set-up because of the interaction with my classmates and instructor that is missing in an online class.
N/A
Nothing really.
N/A
the frustration of the online problems I was having with the assignments
I hate myitlab. Half the time I could not access the course content due to technical issues. The isntyructor informed us that we would prob ably not be able to do the Power Point lessons at home due to unforseen technical limitations. What kind of stuff is that to give to students in the middle of a course of instruction? Pearson is full of it when it claims to provide support to help students. The software is flawed, the self help links are a joke and service is poor overall. They only way I was able to get help is by phone and the hours of available assistance conflicts with Hawaii time to be of any use to students. I had to call between 3 am and 3 pm. Since I work, this was not good for me. I will say their agents are nice and one or two of them are even smart. However the time of help availability to Hawaii is poor and their self help links are not user friendly.
Microsoft word, because at times there will be complication. But all in all everything was easy if you know what your doing.

very good.
William is a great teacher! He clearly understood what he was teaching and made it interesting to learn.
Friendly, personable, seems to know what he is talking about, most of the time. Information is not always clearly communicated, however.

Good
i learned quite a bit
Easy if you pay attention to the lectures and look at the example programs the instructor gives.
Good for dipping my feet into the more complex computer science field
Good beginning course to be introduced to computer concepts.
8, ranging from 1-10.
I liked this course a lot, it was very challenging and i would like to think that i got a lot out of this course. I find Computer Science to be very interesting, if not confusing and complicated.
this course was very interesting, learned a lot about programming even though i've never had any experience at all in the field.
very helpful as an intro to programming.
I enjoyed it. William did a very good job teaching us the material. Lectures were thorough enough for us to get a good grasp of how various methods worked, and the examples we did in class helped to reinforce this knowledge. The homework assignments were
Good for beginners, as an Introduction Course should be.
10/10. I love and really appreciate how William Albritton organized his classes and the fact that his syllabus and powerpoints are online are even better.
Good fun.
Difficulty was good for an introductory course
18. List several things that helped you learn.
doing the assignments
The numerous examples given in class, and the all the class material being online.
his lectures, ppts, example material
Going in for office hours. Example programs that the istructor gives.
lab class for sure!
How to write programs using Java and understanding algorithms.
The lab work
Some of the things that helped me learn in this class, is watching him type up the codes and doing them myself in class. Although sometimes, the material was outside of my reach.
TA at lab, going over the assignment during class after it was due, example codes
example codes and thorough explanations of what each part does.
One of the things that helped me to learn the most were all of the examples that we went through in class. It also helped to have them available online so that we could refer back to actual code while working on the homework assignments.
Being able to read the source code, as the slides were generally of no use.
Simple explanations and examples of computer science jargon. Albritton uses real-life analogies (though everything is related to Japanese culture) during lectures to give an alternative way of thinking.
The giant projector that displayed the computer screen.
Examples, slides, lab
19. List several things that made learning difficult
going too fast in lectures
none
homeworks helped out
New program assignments every class period.
not being able to have a computer in front of us while in class.
Brand new material being introduced everytime and initially it is difficult to understand but easy to comprehend after explanation.
The lab work
I think on of the things that made it hard to learn was he would show us the program, but we wouldn't practice it right away. I had a hard time remembering what to do after awhile.
the course material itself and the vocabulary, what certain words mean
staying awake.
Nothing.
The slides/power point generally were harder to understand rather than talking to the professor or reading the source code.
Absolutely nothing. This was the best ICS class I have taken so far.
Sometimes a bit too fast. Not really too much of a problem though.
Material was new and different
20. List several suggestions for improving the class
none
Less assignments.
it's all good
